I have a Moto 2500 that I used to have setup using the optical out. I have now moved that box to a TV without a digital suround and there is a really bad static hiss. Has anyone come across this before.

Could be a bad audio cable. Have you tried a different one? I find the analogue audio from most of my DCT2500s is pretty clean.

I've tried 2 diffrent cables. Tonight I'm going to try a diffrent input on the tv. The only problem is I only have 1 s-video on it.

That sounds weird... No pun intended. I would suggest moving the DCT back and seeing if the issue remains (even with S-VID on original TV). If not, you know it's the TV. If so, you know it's likely the box and should call Shaw...
