water damage - warranty void according to the manufacturer
you cant return something which has been damaged, thats committing fraud if you try. your basically sol and need to purchase a new phone

Yea a warrenty covers manufactures defects...not your son soaking his phone...this is something a lot of people don't seem to understand...but if u buy a cell and that same day you drop it and it breaks..guess what...you gotta pay for another one..now we do offer our lost, stolen broken program..not a lot of great phones on it but most are between 100-150 so not overly pricy considering you don't have to renew..:)

I used to work for a cell dealership. I hated it when people would bring in their phones that they broke and expect a new one for cheap, then be mad when we tell them to buy it again is $500. If you want some advice though, go on ebay and buy an unlocked phone, at least its cheaper that way. Since it's your son and he's already broken a $300-$500 phone, you should buy him something simple, like a nokia 2610. It's cheap (under $80 usually) extremely durable (though probably not waterproof) and can do everything except take pics and play music.

If you ever soak an electronic device, as soon as you can, dump it into a bucket of rubbing alcohol and give it a good rinsing in the alcohol. The idea is to get the alcohol to displace all of the water.
The problem with water is that it leaves it will leave a little corrosion behind as it dries, thus corrupting contacts. The alcohol, though, as it dries, leaves nothing but "clean" behind, so oftentimes, the digital camera or cell phone or ipod will come out OK.
I've done this a couple times and have been successful both times.

yeah but the problem is once LCD displays have had contact from water, or even alcohol, they get faint and dim, and will never be the same.
