CBC Television has won the television Broadcaster of the Year Award at the New York Festivals Awards. Last year CBC Radio won the first Broadcaster of the Year Award in the New York Festivals, which features competitions for radio, TV, film, advertising and alternative media.

CBC Television also won a Grand Award, eight Gold World Medals and 26 other medals and certificates for television programming and promotion at this year's awards ceremony held Friday in New York.http://www.cbc.ca/arts/tv/story/2007/02/05/cbc-nyfestival.html

Good for CBC. CBC has long been known for providing excellent programming. They are the "network" that I watch most outside of specialty channels.

I also regularly watch "Daily Planet" which won an award for "furniture" and, although I'm an atheist, I watched several episodes of "The Naked Archeologist" on Vision, because it was an interesting programme. (These were mentioned in the article)

Are the awards in the television industry then like so many other industries, where it's a co-operative award, where just about everyone wins? Which is done so as to justify everyone coming in the first place?

Well done CBC. Proof that Canadian programming can be successful.

Are you listening Global and CTV??
