Perhaps Roger's commercials have finished their run ;)

I just tuned to CBS on rogers (528) and the US commercials are far better than what is on Global! They put the Canadian commercials to shame and they are in Widescreen (most of them at least)

DAMN!!! As i was typing this (8:50pm) Global just took over the CBS feed......argh!!!!

It was great while it lasted. Back to TVU for me.
Funny how came it back just in time for a stupid virtual Rogers ad in the stadium.
Awesome seeing all those uninterrupted HD commercials. The sound level was way better. With Global hijacking, I had to turn my receiver to level 40 to hear it loud enough... with the simsub gone, it was only at 26 and it was loud and clear, and it looked great.

Very very annoying. The signal difference is now so much more obvious. I thought I;d gone deaf  . It was nice whilst it lasted, eh?

Yeah, I noticed the drop off; I had to turn the volume up as soon as it happened.

Still the same situation in ottawa.

Everything is subbed except for CBSHD-E.

Is it me, or does the CBS-HD feed out of Seattle (BEV Ch 822) still have the "softer" SQ than CBS-HD Boston (BEV Ch 817)?

I mean it is VERY noticable. I have stuck with 817 because of the SQ, but I can deal with the picture freeze ups from time to time.

The SQ is much better on 817 but I've stuck with 822 because of the no freeze ups.

Notice how there have been no Star Choice posts up to this point.......
So I report ... no HD simsubs (+ I had no SD simsubs either since I'm more than 60 miles from a Global NTSC OTA simsub transmitter)

Star Choice - doing simsubs the way they were designated to be done from the getgo by the CRTC - not done willynilly like those by providers in bed with the broadcasters.

How can Rogers simsub Deal or No Deal Canada over the post-game show on HDCBS-W (channel 523) when their simsub should have ended with the end of the game?

Ive rated Rogers as poor.

Actual PQ was ok, audio was subpar, commercials awful.

What gets me (and probably the rest of Rogers people here) is that they actually dropped it for a while (just on Buffalo and not Seattle I believe, can anyone explain that as well?) and we got the original CBS feed for awhile.

Then they went back to Global. :(

We'll see how Rogers/Global spins it tomorrow. Be interesting to see.

Brutal simsubbing. For the brief time that we on Rogers in the GTA were simsub-free, it was a night and day difference in SQ and PQ between the two transmissions. We've just got to keep logging formal complaints and keep on them to prevent simsubbing if the quality is degraded.

O my, all the simsub threads are kinda dizzying. Anyhow, here is what I posted in the now locked Global simsub thread, reposted for further discussion:

I think this was a red letter day for BEV's HD subscribers. Through this forum, emails to BEV, Global and complaints to the CRTC, we've let the powers that be know that we will not accept technically subpar broadcasts, and for once, someone actually listened.

It will be interesting to see how all of the interested parties proceed from here:

• Will Global squawk about this apparent simsub snub, or will they take this as a wakeup call to actually invest in their HD technology

• Will BEV, and other providers, use this Superbowl experience as a benchmark for broadcasters to live up to the CRTC's policy of technical equivalence before granting HD simsub requests (at the times I bothered to check GlobalHD, the PQ seemed as good, if not better, than CBS-HD, but the SQ was definitely lacking)

• Will the CRTC give its HD simsub policy some teeth so all parties will know EXACTLY what's required before HD simsubs can go forward

I think everyone here who took the time to log all the various bad HD simsubs over the past few years, then filed their complaints to the CRTC, the broadcasters and providers should give themselves a pat on the back.

The number of HD-capable viewers/subscribers is growing all the time and the technical quality we fight for now will set the standards for years to come.

Easily the best sports broadcast I have seen, no simsub (on CBSE). All commercials in original glorious HD.

Great to still see Global hijacking the CBS HD west feed after the game and post game is over! Global didn't bother sticking around for the post game show - who cares about the trophy presentation anyways, I mean, it's not like that's what they work hard all season to win, so they started showing their own version of Deal or No Deal (quite an original concept by Global), and it's even on the CBS HD West channel now. Pathetic Rogers.

I wonder how CBS would feel about Global subbing an NBC show (Deal or No Deal) over the Superbowl Post-Game show and Criminal Minds?
