I was wondering if anyone heard of the next pearl. I was contemplating buying a pearl, but the only thing holding me back is the camera (I want something 3mp or more, something as good as the SE k790). You guys heard anything?

No new blackberries planned to be released until mid-2007(June/July)...and it isn't a pearl..and you won't get anything over 1.3MP...so your best best..get the pearl now and do a upgrade this time next year...might be something worthwhile then.

I love the Pearl I have. They are planning another one soon with the full keyboard, but it probably won't be out until June, as mentioned above. The pearl's a pretty good deal, even at Rogers' inflated rates.

I was reading over at this forum that there will be a new blackberry 8800 coming out next month from Rogers without camera though (one with camera later in the year)

now thats more like it :p
i'll be anxious to see the features and camera on it,
thugh i must say, i prefer suretype over the full qwerty keyboard anyday (buttons are bigger, less likely for smelling mistakes)

I am not a Blackberry user, currently a treo users but I am thinking of making the switch.
What is suretype ? is that what the pearl uses?
and qwerty I believe is like Palm Treo right?
less likely for smelling mistakes
I hate it when I make smelling mistakes ;)
I'm assuming you were typing that from a QWERTY keyboard, and if it had been from your SureType Crackberry, that wouldn't have happened? :)

ironcially, if it was on suretype, i probably wouldn't have spelled it wrong :-p

Suretype is RIM's predictive text software. "qwerty" refers to the layout of the keys on the keyboard (like your desktop or notebook). All (Canadian) Blackberries have a qwerty keyboard.
On the Pearl, however, the characters are laid out 2/key (although it is still a qwerty layout). Therefore, the device uses Suretype to predict which key you intended to use.
The other Blackberries (eg 8700 and upcoming "8800") have full keyboards (like the Treo I believe).
Hope that helps...

Heard today that a 'business' Pearl will be released during 2Q this year. It will do away with the wheel and move to the pearl button thingy (gotta love that button!!). It will have inbuilt maps, GPS in built (no need for a puck) and all the other goodies like MP3 etc. He wasn't 100% about the camera.
