The previous thread is now so far off-topic, that I'm creating a new one.

This thread is for the discussion of the U.S. Super Bowl ads only. Any mention of Global or sim-subbing, etc. will result in your thread being deleted.

What might have been GoDaddy.com's most biting idea for a Super Bowl spot has been a closely held secret — until now. The buxom "GoDaddy Girl" was to play a clueless American in Africa, telling immigration officials that she wanted to adopt a baby. Touché, Madonna. I wonder if Borat will make an apperance during the SuperBowl ads (the DVD comes out on March 6th so...)
... or maybe as a streaker during the halftime show with his producer Azamat Bagatov :D ;)

One thing is for sure, they won't be asking him to sing the National anthem :p

Majority of U.S. Adults Watch Super Bowl for the Ads

By PR Newswire
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Feb. 2

A new survey commissioned by Hanon McKendry/The Brand Consultants and conducted by Harris Interactive Inc. shows that more than half of U.S. adults (56%) watching the Super Bowl on Sunday will be doing so as much or more for the commercials as for the game itself.http://www.broadcastnewsroom.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=102485

Well, duh.
You're telling me that 90 million people actually watch for the game? Of course not! If they were, then there would have been 70-80 million viewers for the AFC and NFC Championships.

I would say that a greater proportion of the female Super Bowl watching population is there to see the commercials and the half time show and could care less about the men in tights.

Great Coke commercial just now on 817 BEV CBS HD East.

Lame-a$$ Workopolis ad in SD on 801 Global.

BEV rocks today!

I didn't like his ad but the bud light commercials have me laughing out loud.

My favorite commercial so far tonight has been the bud commerical where they pick up the guy with an axe and a bud, and then the guy with the axe's reaction to the next guy with a chainsaw and a bud ^.^

With so many of the ads on CBS in HD, including the programming promos, it's actually been kinda jarring when the occasional SD ad rears its ugly head. My opinion of those advertisers too cheap to pony up for an HD version of its ad also takes a dive.

I have to admit that I can't really think of one standout ad for this year's Superbowl. Yes, the Coca-Cola vending machine one was fantastic to look at, but it wasn't exceptional. The Godaddy.com ads were predictable and the BudLight ones were humourous enough as always. But nothing was really ground-breaking or worthy of the hype that the ads generate prior to airing.

My favourite was the "Rock, Paper, Scissors" Bud Light ad.

I agree with other posters that this year wasn't particularly stellar for ads.

One other thing I noticed was that this year had more promos for the network shows than any other year.

Blockbuster mouse won in my house vote with rock, paper scissors in second.

agree with Cyclism, nothing outstanding, the Bud Light adds were funny, go-daddy was uneventful and coke, i drink Pepsi.

Ok. I forgot the BUD Dalmation spot. That was good.

If I'm not mistaken, the Blockbuster mouse is a really old commerical. At least 5 years old.
