The following information comes from a January press release.

Samsung’s entry-level 42 Series LCD TVs make owning a sleek flat panel HDTV more affordable than ever. The 42 Series TVs offers range from 23-, 26-, 32-, 40-, to 46-inches, feature an advanced game mode for video game enthusiasts, and boast a 7,000:1 dynamic contrast for smooth, vibrant pictures in 32-inch models and above. The 32-inch and above LCD TVs also include three HDMI inputs for simultaneous signal transfer of audio and video from digital devices.

The 23-, 26-, 32-, 40-, and 46-inch 42 Series TVs will all be available in April 2007.

The 23-, 26-, 32-, 40-, and 46-inch 42 Series TVs are available now for estimated selling prices of $749, $999, $1,299, $1,999, and $2,499, respectively.

are these 720p?

Yes they are 720p. These are high on my list of potential TVs as well. I WAS going to go for a 62 series 1080p monster, but I've been told by a large number of people, don't bother. Unless you're going 50" or more, 1080p is just money going out the window.

Just as an FYI, the native resolution of the less expensive flat panel LCDs is 768P.

Some limitations I have found:

-No non-linear stretch available,
-Limited 720p/1080i/HDMI stretching ability,
-No 480i over HDMI.
-VGA input does not seem to have any geometry adjustments, so they need to be done by the video card on the computer to line up the picture.
-Suspect bob de-interlacing of 1080i
