8300hd l just got my box last thurday.the only problem l have is.....l follow setting in the book. it was set at pass thru the problem l have is you switch to hd channels my tv(32inch westing house lcd) tend to flick off for a sec then everything is okay. is this normal. when l switch to fixed setting everything is okay.... what the best setting to use when using setup.... by the way l am using compents out..

Hello sjb2003 and WELCOME to the DHC Forums:
This is prefectly normal. Since your STB is set to pass-through, that is allowing all the available resolutions you have selected to pass-through (I'm guessing you have 480p, 720p, and 1080i enabled) your HDTV is processing the signal from the STB and scaling it to it's native resolution.
If you set it to Fixed, then the STB is doing the scaling for your HDTV, hence no "flicking off".
It is best to have your STB do as little as possible other than to receive the digital cable signal and pass it to your TV and other components since they usually have hardware that does a better job than the STB, and you will have a better picture because of it.
