Can anyone tell me what the size of the Panasonic TH-42PX600U box is? I need to know if I can fit it in the back of a Subaru wagon. :o

Thanks in advance.

I doubt it would fit. Not sure of the dimensions, but they're not supposed to be transported lying down flat. So, unless the back of your wagon can handle something three feet tall, borrow a van or have it delivered.

The box dimensions are: 47.5" Wide x 19.5" Deep x 38" High.

it will for sure fit...and yes, they can be transported lying down on their sides...i didnt believe it myself until calling panasonic. They suggest not doing it if it can be avoided...

Yikes... I've seen enough pictures of plasmas with broken glass that I sure wouldn't do it. I can't believe Panasonic says it's okay.

I mean, say you get it home and find the glass cracked... what recourse do you have?

You're a braver man than I, gunga din.

I agree, it's a risk, that's why glass trucks always transport glass vertically and that's why there are those huge arrows pointing "UP" on the sides of plasma boxes.

You may be OK with a 42", since it's less likely to break, but I wouldn't want to try a 50", or 58", to save a few $.

i was weary about doing it, i bought the 50'. But the sales person told me 9 out of 10 people that pick them up put them on their sides, and he has never had one come back witha broken screen. He said to bring it back if it cracked...

i only wnt ~ 5 km...i didnt go off-roading...no problems...AWESOME picture.

Hi all,

For 42", the box is huge. I chose to take it home out of the box, no problems at all. I laid it on a blanket and used the styrofoam from the box to secure it. It didn't budge...
I can't imagine breaking the screen unless you drive like a complete fool or have the misfortune of getting into an accident.

btw, I love my new toy ;-). Now I just have to wait for Rogers to deliver my HD terminal so I can really enjoy it :(

In some ways, it's probably better out of the box if you're going to lay it flat. That way the entire screen is supported. In the box, the styrofoam supports the frame, leaving the glass to carry its own weight. (I'm guessing from pictures of the packaging; haven't unwrapped one myself yet.)
