Anyone wishing to dispute a warning and/or infraction should first read this thread. Issues should be dealt with via Private Message to me or the Admin after reading this thread. Posting in the Member Feedback forum about an Infraction will lead to your account being de-activated.

In order to deal with forum rule violations quickly and easily, Digital Home has an infraction system on the Digital Forum.

When a member violates a forum rule, they are issued a warning or an infraction by a moderator.

Warning Vs. Infraction

Warnings are typically issued to new members and for minor rule violations. These are designed to inform members who likely violated a rule by accident rather than on purpose.

The difference between a warning and an infraction is that an infraction also comes with demerit points. Each infraction can be between one and five demerits. If a member draws 10 demerit points, through repeated forum rule violations, then their account is automatically suspended.

If a member does not commit any more rule violations, the demerit points are removed after 30 days.

After 30 days, the infraction and demerit points are removed.

What to do when you've received an infraction

The most common infractions are for trolling, posting retail links, flaming other members and cross-posting. If you have received an infraction, especially one of the common infractions listed here then our recommendation is to accept it and move on!

Sending a moderator or VSAdmin a private message saying why it was OK to cross post or why you called someone a four letter word will only result in another infraction. If you have a problem with another member, the rules state you must report the bad post and not get into a fight!

In those rare instances where you don't understand why you received an infraction then please read the following threads since they cover most of the reasons why warnings and infractions are issued.

Rules of the Forum (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=3746) so you understand the rules.
Why was my thread / post deleted? (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=43523)which explains why many posts are deleted
What is a troll and what is trolling (http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=36340) explains why there is a zero tolerance for trolling.

Failing all of this, if you still don't understand then you can send VSADmin a Private Message. Rude and abusive notes sent to VSAdmin or moderator after receiving an infraction will be grounds for an additional infraction.

Posting a message on the forum saying "Why did my post get deleted?" may get you banned.

I want to make it clear.

VSAdmin will NOT respond and I don't expect mods to respond to any private message (PM) saying "why was my post deleted". This also is true for any PM that is abusive or rude.

When you are given an infraction, you are sent a private message which gives a brief explanation why you were given the infraction. Members are expected to read the explanation and read the following links before sending any PM!

If you send a PM to VSAdmin or a mod, be sure to explain:

Why you posted what you did
Why you think the infraction was in error. Please make sure you reference one or more of the above threads

If you don't do this, your PM will be ignored.
