: Toronto FC coverage
england 2007-04-13, 02:34 PM No one gives a toss about ice hockey in the UK, there is more crowd for field hockey ( which I played in school by the way ). The ticket hike for TO fc, is because of the the Becks hype. At least the games in the UK are played in a home league, rather in France or Germany
Once people find out that he will rather be in tinstletown than on the pitch, ticket sales will drop faster than a tart's knickers. Majority of the football crowd here are most Brits, and others that only follow the game during world cups and Euro tournaments
I don't understand the criticism of not having a "home league". I am not sure how it affects the game at all. As nfitz has said, football is not *the* sport in North America.
As for the MLS, it is quite simple: Don't like, don't watch. I for one will enjoy my season tix. No, I don't expect the quality of the matches to rival those in Europe, but that doesn't mean I won't be able to enjoy them. Quite simply put - I don't live in Europe. I am not going to sit here and complain about how much better the football is over there is, because I am *here* now.
Typical gunners fan :)
Stoakley Audio 2007-04-17, 08:59 PM Hey all,
Did a site survey today for BMO field to TV stuff and it's going to be a great stadium to work in with awesome sightlines, great camera angles and beautiful views. The standup position for the CBC coverage will look amazing.
Anyway, just thought I would pass that along... it's going to be a fun sport to work on and I think people who are going to the stadium will enjoy the experience.
Cheers!
CBC have announced the broadcast team (http://www.cbc.ca/sports/soccer/story/2007/04/17/cbc-soccer-broadcastteam.html)
Looks like Nigel Reed & Craig Forrest will be calling the TFC games.

Yes they fans to support there teams in the uk.The probleam with the teams folding is they pay there players to much.
nfitz 2007-04-19, 01:41 PM Ah, great news (2 new defenders), the match on Saturday was pretty dire. And a new striker as well earlier this week "Danny Dichio from English club Preston North End".
Nick
jacksparrow 2007-04-19, 05:52 PM Danny Dichio is not in the English Premiership though, so don't expect a 1st class performance from him, and he is going on 33 now. Let's hope they get their act together and start playing well anytime soon
nfitz 2007-04-19, 06:40 PM No, but he's was in a Division 2 (or whatever they are calling it this week) team that is still in contention to be promoted to the Premiership in a few weeks.
Sure, he's at the end of his career, but it's not like MLS is Division 1 quality! I'd think a top Division 2 team would be more than a match for most MLS teams.
jacksparrow 2007-04-19, 06:45 PM True....even guys in the Dr Marten's league could ruffle a few feathers in the MLS.
jacksparrow 2007-04-28, 05:29 PM TO FC needs to step it up, the way they've been playing lately is abysmal

Not alot is expected from the toronto fc for the next 2-4 years. There building for the future.
Bruno Landry 2007-04-28, 06:16 PM It wasn't in HD, but CBC did a really good joob. It will be nice to see what they do for the World Cup. And next year, without the CFL, MLS games will be in HD on CBC.

Let's hope so eh
Jayme 2007-04-28, 10:19 PM They selected to go the slow route rather then be play off bound in year 1 or 2.They would be happy if they get 10 wins this year.
canad 2007-04-29, 01:44 PM Hopefully not 2-4 years, I'm already starting to get turned off by the horrible play and players.. MSLE has to make atleast 1 decent signing hopefully

Don't forget there an expanson team. They had 2 choices one two go out make some major deals and be a play off bound team and challenge for the cup right away.Or build for the future they are going the build for the future route.Msle is more interested in making sure the team has a solid future in toronto on and off the field.
nfitz 2007-04-30, 12:32 AM I thought the last game was a significant improvement over the game last Wednesday - they actually looked like they were in contention. And even last Wednesday's game looked a lot better than the week before - they at least had some sprited, if not flawed, attacks.
Had the defence been a bit better on Saturday, they would have at least drawn - there's no way Johnson should have been where he was by himself!
canad 2007-04-30, 12:54 AM I don't understand this build for the future.. If any of these players were any good they most likely wouldn't be playing in MLS right..
