Have a major problem with my TV set. No pro on TV's at ALL here, so I figured I'd try to show you guys what it's doing.

As you can tell, there's a nasty line about 1/4 of the way down, vertical comes up some on the bottom, getting color ghosts on just about everything - out of focus....

Is this a lamp gone bad? I did the "Magic Focus" maneuver, though it did nothing.

Is this as bad as I think? Should I let the kids use it as a bike ramp? How much $$$$ to fix?

Classic case of blown convergence ICs. I'm not sure about the line. See the sticky at the top of this forum on Convergence problems.

About a 400 fix including labour.

The part itself is about $180 if you do it yourself. I just had this repair done 3 days ago.
