I've been hearing about some interesting new phones coming out of CES.

But I haven't seen much detial yet, is there any of these newer phones that would mate well with the "Shaw home phone" modem, via it's USB or Ethernet port, rather than standard POTS RJ11?

Well I don't know about the newer phones, but the Ethernet/USB ports on the Shaw Digital Phone modem is actually for Computer hookup.

The shaw digital modem has a DOCSIS modem built in, so technically if you have shaw internet and phone you would just use the phone modem for both functions.

Shaw was using the phone modems for computer connectivity for a bit, but they've decided to still utilize the standard DOCSIS modem only for internet.

The new DCT's also have an internet modem built in as well, but are disabled as well. This kind of makes sense as most people probably don't have the DCT in the same room as their computer.

However this would work wonders with something like an Xbox or a PS3. I definatley wouldn't mind being able to use 2 modems.
