: Shaw Digital Phone Down?

Is Shaw Digital Phone down? It is for me in North Van since at least 1:30PM (now 15min).

Update: It's ironic, I called Shaw Customer support on my Telus line because it's still working, and of course there is a recording on the customer support IVR saying "Shaw Digital Phone customers in the lower mainland may be experiencing delays in dial-tone or interruptions in service, our technicians are working on this priority issue as quickly as possible... this recording will be updated at 2PM"... doesn't do the average Shaw Digital Phone customer much good if they can't dial in to customer service!!! :)

Even more ironically, I was going to call into them today to switch my Telus number over and then cancel my Telus line. Not now... I guess I'll see how it goes a bit longer before I decide. I'm tempted to just have Shaw take a hike on this phone business. It's the first time in my life where my phone hasn't worked when I needed to make some calls. Crazy.

I have had no problems with Shaw phone today, used the phone all day throughout the day and evening. I don't think this is a nationwide problem.

Everything seems a-ok today!

I was having dial tone problems earlier yesterday but seemed to be fine after dinner.

Getting dial-tone was unreliable for most of the day... Does anyone find this unacceptable?

In my 30+ years using a phone, I've never once picked up the phone and not heard dial-tone until I switched to Shaw Digital Phone?

I'm really torn. Do I keep this unreliable but cheaper service? It's a tough call. I feel like if I stay with Shaw, I'm saying to them that it's ok to have system outages for a day... as long as it's cheap! I don't like that.

I called one number today and it said "All circuits are busy now" I hung up and called back right away and it went through. But I agree - a phone service should never be down.

Since tomorrow was the last day of my free trial, I called and cancelled the service today. I just can't reward them with my business yet given the problems with service the other day. Perhaps when the kinks are worked out, I'll give it another try.

I just had an "all circuits busy" now as well, but it seems to be the number I am calling, not Shaw as I can call different numbers without a problem, called the first back and still "busy".

Agreed,

It should never go down like that. Every time it happens you can be sure they will find ways to prevent it in the future which will only make the service more reliable.

I've had problems like that with Telus in the past and Telus has had like 100 years to get it right!
