I've been trying to get a HDPVR from Shaw since about Dec 22. I'm an existing customer and I want to trade in my DCT2500 so I have to buy the 6416 from Shaw directly.

I know that BB and Visions have received shipments of 6416's since then and I'm wondering why Shaw wouldn't have as well, or maybe they have and have set them aside for new customers only?

Has anyone in Edmonton received a HDPVR lately?

Thanks

Got one in Mid December. Called them up and had them deliver it. No probs.

cbond, I was told some months ago that Shaw would give me $180 trade-in on the 2500 if I bought a 6416 from them, and $150 if I didn't, whether I bought a box from someone else or none at all. I'd gotten conflicting stories before that, but this CSR was very knowledgable, read from a CSR bulletin stating as much, and put a notation on my file when I asked her to. So the difference should be $30, and you should be able to talk your FS / BB salesman down that much easily... especially since Soundsaround in Calgary is supposed to sell the 6416 regularly for $650.

But if Shaw has no product to sell, I'd insist on the $180 trade-in, to the cover the inconvenience of having to go someplace else to buy your PVR!

I signed up for one at Shaw on Tuesday but they did not have one. They said they would find one from the Soo and they will install it for me.

Got a new Sony KDLV32XBR2 in late December.
Just got my 6416 HDPVR Thursday, Jan 11-07; SHAW was sold out.
I was using coax cable directly from the wall to the TV before getting the box.
I was amazed at the picture quality (using the built-in tuner) on analogue! Some channels were not that far from being HD quality - really!
I was under the impression that "digital " would even be better. Not the case.
The HD is awesome though - too bad there is not more of it.
It is pretty expensive just to get a few more channels, and to have the "recording" feature.
I could honestly have lived with what I had without the box (such good pic quality), but it was an HDTV, so .........................
