: Guide Search / alternate program times problems - DCT6208

Hello all,

I've searched these forums and didn't see anything related, so I'll pose my question here:

I'm a recent convert from Bell Expressvu, so I'm still trying to learn the nuances of my 6208 HDPVR. This past Sunday, I was trying to find what times were available to record Desperate Housewives (yeah, I know... don't flame me for the program choice... lol...). Anyway, when I highlighted the entry in the guide on ABCHD (east), and then hit "info", and then selected the option for "alternate times" (can't remember the proper name for it), I got zero hits for alternate program times! I figured maybe this was something to do with the fact that I had chosen the HD version of the program, so I then found the SD ABC East entry in the guide and again hit "alternate times", and it still didn't show all the alternate times on the various Cdn affiliates that carried it later in the evening! I then went online and found the alternate channels and times from Zap2it.com, and then went to that channel and time in the guide, and... voila! There was Desperate Housewives! I've noticed this for some of my other searches too... Has anyone else come across this? Am I missing something?

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Shneebs.

Hey Shneebs,

Welcome to Rogers' wonderful guide! What's worst is that sometimes it'll work, and other times it won't at all. Mine does the exact same thing - I've become so used to it now I never use that function. If a show is on at 9pm, then I know if I search at midnight in the 100's (or 500's for HD) I'll find the same show.... Or I'll do exactly what you described, go on-line or some other method.

I hope the fact they I'm seeing a TV Guide channel (can't remember the channel) is a sign they're looking to change their guide software, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah, that's pretty annoying. I get around it by going to the search screen and punching in the show name. I always get the complete list if I do that.

Maybe it's just me - but that doesn't work for me either....sometimes the show isn't even on the list when I search for it, and most of the time, when I press the "alternate showings" button, it's still not right. Weird.
