I don't believe that shaw customers will be getting the sim subbed feeds. Shaw doesn't have have Global HD at this point. That means shaw customers will be watching the CBS Seattle feed with the US commercials.

Apparently it is confirmed via several sources that Videotron will NOT simsub the SuperBowl this year (HD only) because they now use the Burlington Vermont CBS HD and since there is no Global HD channel in Montreal, they apparently have the right to refuse the simsub request from Global. Via this logic, Bell Expressvu should also have the right to refuse the simsub for the Seattle CBS HD channel but they probably won't because they're scum.

P.S. Last year, Videotron did simsub the SuperBowl because they use to have Rogers CBS HD (the same one that Toronto Rogers customers get) and because they where getting there feed from Rogers, they where subject to simsub.

Although the biggest NFL game of the year is often a place for networks to introduce the latest production gizmos, for Super Bowl XLI, CBS is keeping it simple.

That is, if deploying some 500 staffers, positioning 47 HD cameras and replacing the lights at Miami's Dolphin Stadium is keeping it simple. (http://broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6410623.html?display=Feature)

This thread is NOT about Global simsubbing the Superbowl, so please leave those comments out of it.

Those shots from above and behind the play are my favourites.
They usually stay with that camera for the entire fieldgoal but not on a regular play from scrimmage. I think it would be great to watch an entire play from that one 'floating' camera.

Even though the NFL game is a lot slower and less exciting than the CFL game (in my opinion anyway!) you can't argue with the effort the NFL makes to have the best broadcast possible. They seem to have almost infinite camera angles for challenges and replays.

Imagine how great the Grey Cup would be with that many HD cameras!

Imagine how great EVERYTHING would be with that many HD cameras! ;)

Yeah, I love the wireline camera angles.... I also love the moving cameras on carts that move with the play as it goes down the field...

I also heard on some U.S. news channel that they are laying down totally new grass that was grown in Georgia and the sod trucked to Miami.
Anybody else hear this ?

Super Bowl ad players: Who's in the game?
Media in Canada

The days are counting down for the big game's official sponsors and spot-buyers. Nissan's got the first quarter, and Labatt's got the second. Returning sponsor PepsiCo's got the half-time show. The third quarter is still open to sponsorship. General Motors is sponsoring the fourth quarter, and the marketer's Pontiac division is staying on as a lead sponsor for the after-game debut of Deal or No Deal's Canadian edition. Rogers, while not an official Super Bowl sponsor, is also advertising heavily during the game as a lead-in to the game show, in which the marketer will be noted for connecting the calls between host Howie Mandel and "the banker."A newbie to Global's Super Bowl broadcast this year is LG Electronics Canada. The marketer will debut a TV spot tied to in-store promos, a microsite and a call to action in the form of an interactive online photo contest. The contest, dubbed "Show Us Your Set," runs from Feb. 5 to March 18 and aims to spark Canadians creativity, inviting photos of their televisions at www.lg.ca/yourset. http://www.mediaincanada.com/articles/mic/20070130/superbowl.html

I found it very interesting that apparently Rogers will be advertising on the Global simsub of the Super Bowl.

As for the LG Electronics TV spot it could be an opportunity for viewers to post photos of the Global simsub [screwup?] and win a HDTV in the process! ;)

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The NFL has nixed a church's plans to use a wall projector to show the Colts-Bears Super Bowl game, saying it would violate copyright laws. (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/nfl/specials/playoffs/2006/02/01/bc.fbn.superbowl.church.ap/index.html?cnn=yes)

So, they just show the game.

The NFL isn't ever going to sue a church.

"NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league's long-standing policy is to ban "mass out-of-home viewing" of the Super Bowl"

What a pile of crap.

Actually, the NFL is more than capable of RIAA tactics. One of Aiello's staffers is going to be assigned to go to the church to check it out and make sure they aren't doing it. The NFL has no shame.

I read on another site that the Church was charging an entrance fee of some sort. I surmise this is why the NFL has a problem with it. The Church is making money off of something they have not paid a license for.

The NFL never has a problem with people getting together to watch the game. Be it at a friends house or at a bar. Just don't charge admission.

If a church is charging, it is obviously a charitable venture and they should lighten up. Bars do, and are, allowed to charge but they generally pay for a commercial package from a service provider that gives them a license to do so.

And a couple of hundred other churchs do they same thing, and ten thousand bars do it. Is Gary Bettman running the NFL...

If you want to see the Go Daddy ad , you will.

I will.

Pastor John D. Newland said he told the NFL his church would not charge anyone and that it would drop the use of the forbidden words.

But the NFL objected to the church's plans to use a projector to show the game, saying the law limits it to one TV no bigger than 55 inches.

Every year, it's the same Super Bowl complaint.

Why can't Canadians see the spectacular commercials that are such a big part of the annual televised National Football League showdown in the United States? Why must we sit through the same boring Canadian ads when our U.S. counterparts are treated to a virtual extravaganza of glitzy, never-before-seen commercials?
