I don't own the DVD (don't think I have even seen it on DVD - just VHS) and got this one for 1/2 price so I'm not complaining if it isn't way better than the DVD. It does look very good to me though.

Live Free or Die Hard

John McClane takes on an Internet-based terrorist organization who is systematically shutting down the United States.

This Blu Ray offering was unfriccin believable. PQ was amazing and the DTS sound track incredible. The disk may very well become a home theatre benchmark for enthusiasts.

As far as the Die Hard series goes, I felt it was the best of the four. Sure they got carried away a bit with the CGI, but for the most part it was very well done. As usual, the main bad guy was superb (Timothy Olyphant) and I really enjoyed the interaction between Bruce Willis and Justin Long (he of the Mac vs. PC fame). Suspend your belief for a while and sit back and enjoy a rip roaring movie!

Robocop

Great movie, I think this was the first movie I ever rented on VHS back in the day. Was alot of fun watching it again, it has been a long time!

The video, ok it wasn't the greatest I have ever seen but didn't think it was near the worst I have seen on Bluray. I know it had some harsh reviews.

The audio, the DTS-HD-MA wasn't great. Found the sound muffled at times, gun shots and explosions weren't that impressive.

Worth getting in a BOGO or renting.

Yep it was cool to watch it again for me too. I don't think i'll buy it but it is decent.

I watched this last night. The PQ is okay - nothing too great but certainly better than the DVD shots I have seen of it. The AQ is about the same. Overall this one isn't up to the top-notch quality of Starz' version of Halloween on Blu-ray but it is not bad.

The movie itself is a classic and I really enjoyed watching it.

Hopefully i'll get to watch Day of the Dead in the next day or 2.

Dawn of the Dead, great flick. The blu-ray was a huge step up from the DVD I thought :) Audio, yeah nothing special. I found Day of the Dead even worse for audio but a big improvement in video. I think I could watch those 2 movies at least twice a year and never get bored of them.

Also, if you have time, check out the commentaries... very good!!!

Remember the Titans
It really looked good on blu ray. The movie is about a southern high school football team dealing with race integreation in the 70s. A good Disney flick.

Hairspray: Fun, family musical (although I just couldn't stop wondering why they couldn't hire a woman for J.T's role) with catchy tunes. The kids really loved it. Picture quality is not bad--no real "Pop" but sharp and vibrant all the way through.

Someone bought me the Live Free or Die Hard DVD for Xmas and I returned it to Walmart thinking I would pick up Pan's Labyrinth, Resident Evil, or something else new on Blu-ray but there was very little left on the shelf to pick from :(

I ended up getting Hairspray though since it was about the only newer one and was basically a free movie to me. I was planning to at least rent it and my wife is happier this way anyway :) Hopefully watch it this weekend.

I watched Day of the Dead last night. I would say that the PQ is better than Dawn of the Dead. The AQ is about the same or a little worse. I didn't enjoy the movie itself as much as Dawn but it is still pretty good.

Pan's Labyrinth

My new all time favorite movie. Words from Beautiful to Monsterous can describe it.

The video was fantasic and the audio was the best I have heard. The 7.1 doesn't rest!

This release kills Cars and Die Hard 4 in my books for all around best High Def experience.

5/5 all the way and a must own.

I just watched the newly remastered Fifth Element and I have to tell you, while the picture quality was top notch for me, the audio is what really amazed both me and my friend. It was clear that it was so very much better than the DVD release. It kicked our asses and it was wonderful. I just wish I could have listened to TrueHD to see if I could notice an even further gain.

Anyhow, always loved this movie and adding its HD version to my collection makes me very happy.

"Roving Mars" BluRay. Great footage and computer animations.

The bonus flick "Mars And Beyond" (a Disney show from 1957) is worth the price of the disc alone.

Layer Cake

Never heard of this movie but decided to rent it at BB, stars the new James Bond so I took a gamble... turned out to be a pretty good movie! Was pleasantly surprised.

Video was good, some soft scenes. The PCM 5.1 audio was terrific.
