Hi folks.

I'm a newbie to audio in general, thinking about a modest surround system for a small-ish room in a condo (so no earth-shaking subs). I came across a package at FS that includes Athena Micra 6 speakers and, reportedly, a Yamaha HTR5930 receiver.

I'm finding it hard to find info on this receiver, other than at Yamaha dot com (nothing but a PDF brochure on the dot ca site). In my ignorance, the specs don't tell me much.

Any opinions or knowledge of this receiver?

Thanks... Perry.

I purchased a set of Athena Micra surrounds last April through and online sale at FS and bought separately a Yamaha HTR5840 (last year's model) and have been plenty satisified as my TV room is 10 X 12. The only difference is it's a 6.1 instead of 5.1 and has 85 Watts per channel(the 5.1 has 110 per channel if I recall). You can't find Athena Micra speakers anymore unless you buy this package trough FS. For the price you can always upgrade in 5 years time and not regret your purchase. I know this receiver does not compare with the upper Yamaha receivers or Onkyos, and such but it is a very good basic system.

Good luck with your decision. Dave
