Again guys, please don't post saying "I got it".

This thread is clearly focused on what's new and identifying any issues, not who got it.

Regarding my posting http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showpost.php?p=491121&postcount=74, while HDMI from 8300HD does now work with HT-TQ85 (and presumably other HDMI receivers and HTIB), there are some issues.

When I turn off everything (i.e., 8300HD, TV and HT-TQ85) and later turn everything back on, or when I switch inputs on HT-TQ85, I loose the sound when I go back to watching cable. I don't know yet whether the source of the issue is 8300HD or HT-TQ85 or the combination of the two. Because this is not a firmware upgrade issue per se, I will continue this discussion in this thread http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=50586

this morning, I was unable to turn on my PVR. I guess I received the upgrade overnight. I live in Mississauga. However, my box seem to be dead. The clock is on but, it won't turn on. Any suggestions ?

I am in south etobicoke and the update happened at about 2am for me!

I had been thinking of setting up an external SATA drive, but now I want to wait to hear about any bugs with teh new version before I do - has anyone got an esata drive hooked up with the new firmware?

thnx

Leslie and Lawrence. Upgraded to ver 1.89.16.2
Noticed one thing: default save time of my recordings were "Until I erase". Somehow it bounced to "For 14 days". Had to reset it in "Preferences". Go check 'em.

has anyone got an esata drive hooked up with the new firmware?Yes, everyone who had an esata drive before the firmware - which is pretty much everyone in the GTA who has an external drive now that most of the GTA seems to have been updated.

When I went downstairs this morning, my HDD was spinning and is still spinning with the box "off" hours later. We'll see if it spins down at all...

Surfing through the IPG (right arrow for example) is slower than before, as mentioned in one or two of the posts above.

after the update, my saved programs didn't change the setting from "until I erase".
I also can't confirm that the picture looks any different. (SD or HD)

My drive now spins down with in about 1 mintut after shut down - before it seemed to spindown abotu 5 mintues after it was turned off...

Perhaps the HDD spinning and the IPG slowness is because some of the firmware/IPG information is still being populated and things will "return to normal" after this is complete....

I received the update last night.

Can someone tell me where I can download drivers from my SA 8300 HD for firewire??

I noticed that paging through the guide on my brother-in-law's 8000HD was noticeably slower after the update than my 8300HD is.

Did anyone experience the issue of the box being down ? I still can't open my PVR. Wondering if anyone else had this issue.

PeterOS, there's a firewire thread in Rogers and Videotron, please look at it/them.

digicom, have you tried a cold reboot? Unplug/replug. See the Digital Home FAQs (under help)

- Tips for SA STB
- Things to check first
- What you need to do to your new HDTV.

Received the update to my 8300 last night here in Brampton (Dixie and Steeles). This morning I couldn't pause, ff, or many PVR functions at all. After cold boot, all was well. I tried to connect my VCR using the front inputs(old TV, only 1 set of inputs) but I had problems. After changing source on the 8300, I would see the VCR screen for a sec and then it would go blank (like a fade out). I tried many times and it just kept happening. Any ideas?

..not being kicked out to live TV while watching a currently recording program. My wife yells at me for some reason whenever this happens!
Hahaha! My wife does the same thing, thankfully she wont be able to anymore!

Updated yesterday - midtown Toronto.

I'm in Brampton and received the probably yesterday. I noticed tonight that the lettering on the OSD looked a bit different.

Something strange did happen yesterday, some of my scheduled recordings did not happen. Not sure if it's related.

It's SARA V1.89.16.2

I love the 120x Scan Forward/Reverse!

No issues with my Schedule Recording.
