We welcome the input and opinions of all members whether they are good or bad, however, please note that this thread is NOT for rants. Whether you had a good or bad experience with this vendor we want to hear about it but in an OBJECTIVE manner.
If you post a rant or childish comments like, these guys "suck" or they're all a "bunch of idiots", then your comments will be considered trolling and your post will be deleted.
When you post, please try to include the following information:
What product or service you purchased.
Approximate timeframe you ordered the product
What location you dealt with if it’s a company with many stores or service locations
Your overall level of satisfaction
If you had a positive experience, please explain what made it such a positive experience.
If you had a negative experience, please read our guidelines below.
Guidelines for Posting Negative Reviews
The truth is no retailer or service provider is perfect and occasionally even the best companies can disappoint. Our experience is that good companies have problems but they typically make every reasonable effort to resolve problems.
If you had a problem and are posting a negative review, then please note what efforts you made to resolve the problem and the feedback you received. If you think the efforts to resolve the problem were NOT reasonable then please explain why. Saying you phoned up and talked to some idiot, suggests the problem may lie with the consumer and NOT the company!
No posting URLS or Directs to Competitors will be deleted
Posts containing URL's to competitors or posts saying gee you should have shopped at this retailer will be considered spam and deleted.
We want opinions, NOT sales pitches or spam!
Ordered from them (online) on Christmas and received the product ( Logitech MX Revolution mouse) (in Ontario) before New Year. They had the best price ( half of what FS was selling it, and about 15 % less than Tiger Direct). And you do not pay PST ( only GST 6%). The shipping cost was OK also (under 10 $ via Purolator). Definetely check the site before buying any computer accessories.
awai_00 2007-03-15, 11:51 PM This place is absolutely amazing.
I ordered something on Tuesday afternoon. And it showed up on Wednesday morning. On top of that, being in Ontario, there is no PST since it is based in BC. But... they shipped it from a Toronto warehouse, that's why I got it so fast. Furthermore, they had a free ship deal going on. So all in all, I paid their price (which was already competitively low) + GST and got it less than 24 hours later!
Jez000 2007-04-04, 10:39 AM I have placed 7 fairly large orders with Canada Direct for PC parts, prices have been very competitive and delivery times have been good. All items have been well packed and have had no failures. I don’t think there website is the best though as you have no online history of orders and if you don’t know what item you are looking for the menus are not the best for navigating and comparing different products.
ishoong 2007-06-20, 12:02 PM I ordered an ASUS motherboard through them and it was not working at all(rare for ASUS motherboard). I return it back but they charge me 15% for re-stocking fee on that! I tried to call their support and always said I am the first in line even after 4hr on the phone! And they also never reply my email. I will never never order from them no matter how cheap they are!
ottawa613 2008-02-01, 11:01 PM I placed an order over 1 week ago for product that was in stock.
I have emailed, left voice mails - they are never answered.
Are they still in busuness ??
No Product- No tracking number -No shipment and they have my money
I will never order again from Canada Direct - lesson learned.
The other postings I read about good service must have been from their employees.
moonturk 2008-03-11, 07:55 AM I ordered a video card and power supply early last with and payed extra for express shipping. 6 business days later I haven't heard a peep out of them, they've had my money the whole time as well. I cannot get a hold of them either by phone or email.
Prices might be cheap but avoid these guys at all cost. I'm giving them a few more days to get it together or else I'll have to go about getting my money back, talking with BBB as well.
I wish I read the reviews on them before as it's been horror stories on them for the last 2 months!
Tanta 2008-03-12, 04:22 PM I have ordered 'small items' three separate times from them (power supply, sound card, external hard drive), and their delivery times from BC to Quebec have ranged from 2 to 5 days. I would re-order without hesitation.
malquin 2008-03-18, 08:06 AM Just had a good experience with DirectCanada .
Ordered a video card last Friday @ 3PM EST. Chose the 10$ Air shipping promotion. Item was delivered in Montreal Monday morning around 10AM.
In the past, it happened a few times that I chose a fast (and more expensive) shipping method only to have DC take 3-4 days to process my order. Figured I would mention it when a transaction goes this smoothly.
cfraser 2008-07-16, 11:59 AM ^ Same with me. I ordered something and had it less than 2 business days later, $10 air shipping from BC. I was very surprised because there was no shipping notification etc. Also there was no paperwork in the box to indicate where the shipment came from etc., not a proper invoice I mean. Not a big deal for me, mentioning it JIC somebody needs an invoice for business.
I ordered a similar item from Compu2000, limit one while on sale, so I ordered the second unit I wanted from DirectCanada. Some have said Compu2000 is a DirectCanada reseller. The DirectCanada price was a fair bit higher but still decent, and it is HERE. (There isn't a Compu2000 review section.)
One thing you have to watch out for at DirectCanada is their shipping weights. Some tiny items are given a ridiculous weight which means shipping can get expensive fast. Doesn't seem to be a problem for larger items, nor for smaller expensive items. e.g. some ~1/2oz items I wanted were given a 2lb weight each, so to ship 1.5oz of stuff would cost over $19.
MartinD 2008-07-16, 11:10 PM I purchase 4 HD enclosure for $185 and receive only 1 device. I try to call many times and after 2 minutes the line are disconnected. I try to sent few emails support using Direct Canada website or by emails and never got a response!!! I send a fax and never got response...
Direct Canada have the worst customer service!!! This company not consider the customer... Do not purchase anything from this company.
Visa RBC already accept to credit my card, feel free to contact your credit card directly bypassing any communication with Direct Canada if you have a problem.
denny 2009-01-06, 03:10 PM Looking for a specific video card, found it a few online places. Direct Canada had lowest item price and a "50/50" shipping promo and no PST to Prairies.
The Direct Canada site itself isn't that great when it comes to product research. Very light on details and spec's, but if you know what you want and/or can research elsewhere, this may not be a problem. (This is assuming that I get what I'm expecting.)
Registering an account and ordering the item was easy.
I received immediate online feedback that the first 3 steps of 8 steps were completed as well as an e-mail to the account I registered with. I was a little surprised that one of the steps was to verify stock because their site gives the impression of real time stock/inventory/availability. No problems for me as stock was confirmed.
Note that nowhere in the process was there an opportunity for me to provide any special instructions, like some other sites have. EG. Would have been nice to ask them to confirm that the item was exactly what I was looking for, before completing the order.
Within a few hours, I had both online and e-mail verification of 7 of 8 steps to the point where the order has been processed and waiting to be shipped out of their Vancouver warehouse, along with a tracking number.
Tracking number doesn't work right now with Canadapost's site, I'm assuming it's a pre-issued number and it may not be registered on Canada Post's site until someone actually picks the item up at Direct Canada's warehouse.
I'll come back and modify this review once I receive item. But so far, so good.
Alan Toronto 2009-01-06, 03:15 PM I ordered an ergonomic mouse a few days ago, as they had a very good price and a shipping deal. The mouse has now arrived, shipped from BC. No problems.
denny 2009-01-12, 02:56 PM Hmmm - doesn't appear to be a simple way to edit my original post.
I received my item from DC today. It was what I expected. Canadapost online tracking doesn't seem to be kept up to date. Still shows as sitting in BC somewhere.
Otherwise, I'm happy with the transaction and happy with DC.
showmar 2009-01-14, 05:50 PM Ordered DVR Expander last Friday, Jan. 9. Product was indicated on website as in stock and would ship in 1-2 business days and my order confirmation also indicated in stock. Not having heard anything by Tuesday wrote to customer service. They responded that product was on order from supplier and would likely be received by the end of this week. So 2 complaints--product not in stock when I was told the contrary and most annoyingly my credit card was charged on Jan. 9 even thought they had no product. We'll see what happens but so far not so good.
Hemi666 2009-09-30, 12:04 PM I think I might add my opinion on Direct Canada....
I never heard of them b4 2 days ago when I was looking to buy Turtle Beach Ear Force X41 (the new headset for XBOX 360 in 7.1) After reading reviews I started to look for them on the web..... Retail price goes from 199 to 250 US and the are already B/O almost everywhere....
I finally found them on Direct Canada for 175$$ CAN ( I am from Montreal) and the web site said the have them in stock... I finally decided to buy them with the Air Shipping promo (9.99$)
I purchased them yesterday afternoon (Monday 29th) and confirmed my purchased at around 5:00pm.
I received several email from them informing me of the process and at 18:30 they were shipped from Vancouver.
At 11:30, this morning (Tuesday) I got Purolator knocking at my door with my Headset.....REALLY IMPRESSED.... and for 195$$$ all included (with insurance)
Direct Canada found a new customer... Highly Recommended
Strob 2009-11-30, 10:59 AM They marked some items as "in stock" even with a real time number of items but in fact they have to wait for their supplier which can add more than a week for delivery.
Also their website was indicating my item as not yet ship until I received it.
One of my emails to them never received an answer.
Finally i received the item 17 days after ordering but the price was the lowest I could fin d for a Wacom tablet. almost half the price of Future Shop.
Coffeeman 2009-12-04, 07:27 PM Good prices but non existent customer service. They were quick to take my money but as soon as one of the products was defective no one wanted to talk to me. I am still trying to RMA with the manufacturer. I have had really good service at one of the local computer stores and made a big mistake trying to save a few dollars.
recneps77 2009-12-05, 11:20 PM I've ordered a few times and have had fast service.
As they're owned by NCIX, it's no surprise to me.
Maybe I'm the odd one out, or most people with good reviews haven't posted here.. don't know.
My last order was just for some printer ink cartridges. They shipped within a day after ordering and they had $9.99 air shipping promo. They arrived the next day without issue.
I'd order from them again if an item is not listed on NCIX, otherwise I usually just order from NCIX and pricematch it to the lower price (if it's less on directcanada). They're more than happy to match "themselves" on price ;)
sharpnfuzzy 2010-01-05, 02:59 PM I love this place!
Purchased a video card and motherboard from them in mid November. They had the lowest prices that I could find for both and had (very fast) air shipping promos. Also, since they're in BC, the tax savings pretty much paid for the shipping.
Their phone call verification thing was a bit freaky at first (since the phone rings like a second after you click the button :D) but works great.
I will definitely buy again.
