Hi All

Just picked up the Pioneer VSX-1016TX for $520 + tax, its replacing and older 10 year (to the day) 5.1 DD Pioneer (she served me well).

I do not have a 7.1 speaker set up yet and im using a 5.1, doing all the manual and automatic calibration tests, doesnt give me the option of having a 5.1 only, Im forced to set-up a 7.1 set-up and put the distance and volumes of the SL and SR when I only have SBL and SBR (B=back)

Any was to get a pure 5.1 without using 7.1 setups on this receiver?

I have the 1015 and I think for a 5.1 setup you hook your rear speakers as SL and SR. SBR and SBL is for the 7.1 setup. In the menu for speaker settings the SB options are 1 speaker, 2 speaker or none -select as none (5.1).

Thanks very much!

This crossed my mind, but now that you've confirmed it, I switch the rear speaker wires and the auto calibration went successfully and im pure 5.1 now.

Cheers
