Does anyone know if a cordless keyboard and mouse will function with the PS3? None of the stores in my town have any USB wired keyboards but they do have some cordless available.

shouldn't be an issue, as long as the dongle for the kbd/mouse is still USB-based.

I'm pretty sure I've read reports of wireless USB keyboards working

I've hooked up a wireless keyboard (the Gyration one). It does work, but I seem to have some responsiveness issues. I don't know if something else is interfering with the wireless or what's happening, but I need to press some keys multiple times before I see the characters on screen.

I happened across a wired USB keyboard at a drugstore where I least expected to find one. I saved $60 over the cheapest wireless model in town and it made it much easier to set up a PS3 online account.

Thanks to all for the replies.

I really have to get a keyboard too. I was planning to get a bluetooth one but they seem awfully expensive.

UncleJohn, I was looking at that one also and it seems to have good reviews. Never got around to ordering it and now I might not; wife is starting a business and just quit her job!

Thanks polaris. I think, I'm going to get one, pretty soon. It's also can be used for Bluetooth enabled PC as well.

darrylr, you can get one at Direct Canada for 53$ or at shoprbc for 59$, which is next door from you.

You could also consider getting a MadCatz Thumbpad. It's a USB mini-keyboard with a dongle that plugs into the USB. I don't type much, so the Thumbpad (which can be used separately from the controller) works fine. It's also very small, so it can be stored out of sight easily.

yeah any wireless usb or bluetooth keyboard should work.

The one the OP is considering seems ideal for couch surfing though with its built in touchpad rather than a mouse.
