: Combat Flight Sims on Newest Consoles?
stampeder 2006-12-24, 02:50 PM I'm wondering what is out there in the Game Console world for Flight Sims? My brother likes Crimson Skies on his 1st Generation Xbox, but I'm more into reality-based FSes and especially World War II combat aviation.
Is there a good Combat Flight Sim for PS3, Wii, or XBox 360?
james99 2006-12-24, 02:52 PM Blazing Angels is out for the PS3 and XBOX 360. Reviews are not that great but it looks and plays great and really shines in online mode. Single player is more of a practice mode.

jvincent 2006-12-24, 02:56 PM We have Blazing Angles and while it's not full reality it looks and plays great as james99 says.
Two player dogfight or co-op mode is actually pretty good too.
james99 2006-12-24, 03:06 PM Big fan of co-op mode. Flying over Paris or London is fantastic looking.
The AI in single player mode, especially the voices, can be annoying though.
stampeder 2006-12-24, 03:37 PM I just downloaded the Blazing Angels trailer (51MB file):

Looks interesting, but I'm used to Flight Gear on Linux and used to play the various Firepower-enhanced IL2, CFS1, 2, and 3 combat flight sims on Windows so I might be too spoiled to really be happy with this. I'll have to do a test flight somewhere. :)

I want to punch the AI in the face it's so annoying.
chachi_arc 2006-12-31, 09:31 AM I'm not getting the voices for my PS3 version. I get it them during training but after that no voices come over during the missions. All of my other games play flawlessly on my PS3. Could this be a problem with the Blazing Angels disc itself? The game plays fine, sound effects and music are there during gameplay, just no voice audio, strange.
QuantumFluxx 2006-12-31, 11:14 AM I've had this problem myself. I'm not sure what sound system you are using. But I was playing my 360 copy and I was unable to hear voices either. Turns out they were there, just so low every other sound in the game was almost completely drowning it out.

Maybe Battlestations: Midway (http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?fs=1&id=2642#trailers) is what you're looking for? Not sure whether it is more realistic or arcadey, though...
fuzzai 2006-12-31, 09:23 PM OVER-G - xbox 360
Get it, if you like Flight Sim, its a must. If you wanna fight in the air, its a must.
DO NOT LOOK AT REVIEWS, it seems as when the game was reviewed all these companies did not CHANGE THE SETTINGS!
When playing the game you must change the settings from Arcade to live or something.
You get to fligh the F22, Various f18's, f14, f16, f15's, Su-27 & 33 russian plans, the plane that Saab made/makes. and various others.
The game is sweet, the single player is fun, online is a hoot, if you can find a game.
PokerChip 2007-01-01, 02:06 PM I'm currently playing Blazing Angels on my PS3, and it's my first, real experience with the sixasis. I must say it works fantastic. For some reason, I was expecting this feature to be gimmicky, but I am really impressed and I'm sure really interesting thing will come out of it as the months go by.
