Can someone explain to me how the online updates of games works? I recently updated NHL2k7 and it saved each update onto the hdd I guess.

Will the updates only affect "online" play?

And is there a way to get the updates and play with these offline?

P.S I find all these profiles etc very confusing with games. And yes I have read the manual. :)

the are only one type of updates for 2k7 and they are rosters. They are for offline only. For them to work, you most load them from the Options Menu either in the Roster section or the Load/Save section.

The game uses it's own roster file for online, you see it getting downloaded and used when you loaded up the Xbox Live in the game,

the game knows where it is located, just go to the Load Rosters or Load/Save screen to load them

Hmmm I did realize I must be signed into XboxLive lol to get my profiles.

I am not sure if you have the game or not but I have 4 roster updates. And I loaded one but I don't see Malkin in the Pitt line up?

Hmm what roster should I load? I have four of them saved to my HDD.

download if you haven't already the last one from December, save it, and than load it, Malkin should be there.

Hmm another question regarding "game" updates and downloads. I was trying to see if there were downloads for NBA2K7 but I kept getting a message that my type of profile or something doesn't allow me to this option.

Do I have to have the Gold membership for the game updates/downloads?

I believe so. I have Gold so I am able to get the downloads. If you got the NHL 2k7 rosters, than you should be able to get the NBA 2k7 rosters also

Aww ok thats why. I am only SILVER at this time. But when I updated I guess I was on that trial they give you.

I do game but not really a gamer, I prefer PC game as there are addons for games.

trellaine, you should still be able to get the game updates as a Silver member; the xbox support site (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/features/goldenage.htm) says silver members can "Download auto updates and free downloads for your Xbox 360 games.". So the roster issue might be something else.

One option would be to go into your storage management via the system blade and delete all the rosters you have now, then it should prompt you to redownload 'em. Some game updates include offline fixes for glitches and bugs (for example, the recent GoW update included one for killing RAAM with the Troika), which I would guess is why they let silver members get them - they don't want the appeal of xbox live to tarnish for non-gold folks...
