Hey,
A new channel appeared on my guide today, Channel 317- HDNet, but I am not authorized to view it. Does anyone know what this is?

It seems your cable company is on the verge of adding HDNet. Currently only BEV, Rogers and Cogeco offers it.

I viewed the channel listings for the next few days out and didn't see anything of real interest.
I called Novus about that, they said they're in the process of internal testing for HDNet. It'll be offered to public come Feb 1st.

Just received a letter fm Novus stating they are adding 3 more HD channels on Feb 1 with one month free preview:
National Geographic HD
Showcase HD
HD Net
That brings Novus' HD channels to 19 which is great. Nice to know that for a small company like Novus, they are keeping up with the competition against Shaw.

Nice rate increase to go along with that.
HD Basic was $1.95 for 12 channels, now $5.95 for 11 channels > 200% increase.
HD Sports was $1.00 for TSN HD and Sportsnet HD now $2.95 = 200% increase.
Still a better deal than Shaw. Can't wait for the day they unbundle the packages so you can only pay for the channels you want to watch.
Does anyone know if Novus does simulsub on their HD channels? Since I don't see any Global HD here, I assume there should be no simulsub for SuperBowl.

Global is on HD Basic. We can only wait and see if they do the simsub for the SuperBowl.

Since Global HD is from Ontario and not local, they do not need to simsub. However, if Novus gets both of their CBS feeds from Bell (which is simsubbing apparently), then there is nothing that Novus can do.
