I think they want to phase out PPV at some point. I prefer using it because I can record the movies using PPV but not with VOD. If VOD was recordable I'd use it more.

Same here. I think I only used VOD once, just to try it, when it first started. I doubt I would ever use it again. I like to know I can save something if I really like it.

really? You can't record VOD? Do you mean like on a VCR, DVD Recorder or the Shaw PVR?

Because just as a test when we first got Digital Cable this year (August) I tried to record a movie to the VCR and it worked perfect.

You can't record VOD on a PVR. Just PPV
I also believe you have better fast forward and rewind options when watching a PPV as well.

Yes, that is totally true. The ffwd/rew skip forward/skip back funtions are way better using PPV. Plus, you usually get newer releases with PPV as opposed to somewhat older releases with VOD.

Another thing I don't like about Shaw VOD is that to load the menu takes too long, and if you press the VOD button by accident, you get re-directed to the weather network when you leave.

I'm in Kelowna, BC and out of idle curiosity, I tried to access Shaw's VOD through my cab box today and found that it worked. The last time I checked with Shaw about this was many months ago when they told me that Kelowna only had Shaw On Demand and that that required some control through the Internet: selection, starting, etc.

Does anyone know when the VOD started working fully through the cable box in Kelowna?

Almost two months ago.
