So.. I haven't seen these channels show up in my guide in the last 24 hours.. nor have I seen the long awaited WGN-HD channel either.

In Ontario these have been showing up for almost 24 hours... is this another case of our 750 MHz system not being able to support anymore HD channels?

I suspect that's the case eh? No MPIX-HD, and now these.

Oh well.. I'll just have to make due with TCM for the holidays!

Well.. they were not in my guide this morning when I left the house.

Certainly I don't know for sure, but it seems to me that the excuse we were given over MPIX-HD was capacity (Dan - do you remember for sure?)

This is starting to bother me. It's not like the rest of the country doesn't already treat the Maritimes as a 2nd class citizen.
One would think Rogers would be smart enough to swap the redundant ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox HD stations for the unique stations we aren't getting in HD already if bandwidth was the true problem. Maybe we should send them a petition?

Kexo:

Sorry .. I won't swap my west coast feeds.

I need those until Rogers offers us a dual tuning PVR in the maritimes (something else we don't have).

They are working on upgrading our networking to match Ontario's capacity.. but I think we're still a ways off from that being complete.

Lajohn, I think he was referring to the double mappings of ABC/NBC/etc... that are in the upper 400s.

To that, they are not actually using bandwith by doing that as they are just mapped multiple times in the set top box.

And no, I also will not give up my west coast HD feeds even IF we get a dual tuner STB.

I would guesstimate that these 2 new channels are in the 800MHz area and so we are shizer out of luck...yet again. Will we have to start our own cable company or what?

Son of a....Yeah, I don't wanna lose my west coast feeds either. Darn. Guess we're outta luck.
Could go back to satellite I guess, but the day I dropped Bell that was the 2nd happiest day of my life...
Guess we'll just have to wait until the upgrade in 2009...

I know you guys out east are a little frustrated. But I guess its just a bandwidth issue in your area. I'm sure Rogers will resolve this sooner or later.

And you believe in Santa Claus?!!! :)
I hear different stories that we are in the 800MHz in some areas and that we are still in the 750 in the whole province. I just don't know who to believe anymore. Too bad I lost my contact that used to tell me what was going on. I sure miss that person. Meanwhile, let's be positive and thing that before 2020, we'll have all that we are supposed to get like the quadruple tuner... :o

LOL!!!

Don't say it too loud or Rogers will start coming up with excuses now for why we can't have the quad!!!

The scary thing is that it is more likely that we will have access to OTA HDTV in the Maritimes before Rogers gets their crap together.

I think that we all deserve these new hd channels and with technology these days im sure a national company such as rogers could find the expertise and money to add them. I like rogers but sometimes it can be very frustrating. We are even worse off in Nfld but I have to admit I like Rogers but hate having to wait so long for services to be added here as well. Our government is helping fund new fibre optic lines to our province this year so hopefully that will make a difference. We already have one set across to N. S. and the extra lines will bring more competition to our area and as a result increased service. I enjoy HD and was looking forward to National Geographic HD , I bet the shows are awesome in true HD. As a soccer fan still waiting for GOL TV believe it or not. Oh well Tcm and the other movie channel were a bonus as well as local radio stations being added recently to our service in addition to galaxy etc....;)
