Most heat from LED devices are in the driver circuits which are essentially mini-transformers. Without a proper heatsink they can get hot, fast.

I Understand but what I was getting at is that simple resitor type drivers circuits are not efficent but more elaborate electronic and switching type drivers can be more efficient and produce little heat. At that price I would have expected that these lamps would have a reasonably good driver.

I have two 12V 3 watt led puck lights I got in the US that are as cool as can be after an hour or two unlike the LED puck lights at Home Depot that are quite warm to the touch and produce less light.

I found another Canadian source. WSE Technologies in Saskatoon Saskatchewan they have a large selection of lights solar wind and hydro electric generating systems as well
