Definitely not looking forward to being without my XBOX for 3 weeks

Good luck with that. It was 5 weeks for me. I don't know why they can't just send the replacement in the coffin.

It was two LONG months for me.... at one point I actually had to make calls to track it down..

I agree, they should send you the new one with the coffin..

Good luck with that. It was 5 weeks for me. I don't know why they can't just send the replacement in the coffin.

Perhaps because they need to verify that it is still under warranty (ie. not been modified and warranty sticker intact).

It would be so much nicer if they did stuff like say Western Digital does with RMAs whereby they require a credit card number for RMA processing, but send you a brand new drive (or in this case would be a new or refurb 360) in a box and you simply mail them back the original 360 in 1 month time or they charge your credit card for the full amount of a new one.

These end to end timespans I am hearing from you folks and others are just miserable. This process really sucks. It's too bad it's just not being dealt with well yet.

My most recent RRoD was only out for a little over 2 weeks (died 09-22). Got me a nice, noisy 12-23-2005 refurb. Sweet.

oh mna, this doesn't sound like its going to be pleasant... Anyways, my 360 kept locking up on me all last night, so I don't think I'm going to have the option of keeping it. I'll just cross my fingers and hope I get a new or refurb console that works and that I get it in a decent amount of time. I'll keep you posted.

Just a quick update, I phoned XBOX support Oct 13th, received the box Oct. 18th and shipped it Oct. 20th. They received it at the repair center today (Oct. 23rd). I'll let you know when I get it back, but so far so good...

Hi all,
This is my 2nd time posting on this section. My replacement m360 died Monday morn. The red ring of death!Lasted just over a year.So on the phone with MS and now awaiting yet again for the ellusive box to arrive.Hoping to have a relpacement 360 by Christmas, but it's anybody's guess,I know I had a hell of a time with the last one.I had quite a heated discussion with them on the phone as I remember. Is the return postage paid now,or are you still responsible for it?

The entire process is free now. My most recent console was replaced in around 2 weeks (died in the last week of Sept.), so you should be OK.

I never had to pay postage for the two boxes I sent back. They included the Purolator pre-paid stickers to put on the box to send back.

Lol, I was playing NHL2k8 online and my wife passed by and said it sounds like the xbox is dying ... its really loud (even louder then my 1st one) and is blowing out really hot air. I dont think this one is going to last very long.

Think positive...the brand new, quiet (almost PS3 quiet) 360 that replaced my launch unit lasted 5 whole hours. The loud, ancient one that replaced that one is still going strong. Its just loud so you know its still working. Its a feature...:p

haha, so true. I got my replacement XBOX on Friday, so almost 2 weeks exactly from the initial call to new XBOX, much quicker and less painful than expected. The new XBOX works, so thats a bonus, I think it is a bit louder than my original launch console, which is kind of depressing, but at least it works, so I guess I should be happy. I am a little surprised they don't extend the warranty when you get a 'certified Microsoft XBOX 360 replacement console' though. In theory, you could get a replacement, then have it die within a year, but outside of warranty and be left holding the bag. Not sure how long MS will be able to stick with that policy. They have already changed their warranty policy at tleast twice, may be time for another change...

As I posted couple weeks before, my Sept 2006 xbox died with RROD.
Received box from MS, but was able to prolong life with "towel trick".
Finally it died. Sent it to repair depo by Purolator on Oct 20th, got it back on Oct 25th.
Maybe I just got lucky, but this is how long it took.
I'm from Toronto. Has been working w/out problems so far.
BTW, women at Purolator depot said they are getting at least 50 xboxes a week.

Has anybody received their reimbursement cheques for repairs they paid for? Mine went in in June and they extended the warranty while it was in for repair. Unfortunately, they charged my credit card immediately when I made the first phone call, so I have to get reimbursed. That's 4 months I've waited now.

Well my second 360 decided to die last night, 10 months this time. Off to try and do a return today...

Well I must say,I got the surprise of my life yesterday, when I got a knock at the door.It was thr puralator gal with my replacement 360.I talked to them the day before and they told me to call next week for a tracking nimber to track the new one comming back.Much much faster service this time.Let's hope the 3rd one is a charm. They included a free month of LIVE,that's new also.Doubt if i'll use it. But a nice jesture.
I can't get onto the marketplace. Is everyone else locked out for the time being also?

My reimbursement came in to day, finally!!! This was for a repair I did back in April. I had given up on it cause anytime I called Xbox support they would say they had no clue what I was talking about...

I received my reimbursement cheque last week. Since my repair was done months ago, I had no idea that this cheque was coming. What a great early Christmas present! And it's a bonus that my repaired 360 is still working properly...
