Sony announces first Blu-ray DVD
On Monday 3 March, Sony announced the first DVD recorder to use blue laser light. It will go on sale in Japan in early April, along with new DVD recording blanks that work with the dark blue light instead of traditional red lasers. The new DVD disks hold 23 GB (billion bytes of data), enough to record two hours of high-definition satellite television.
