Any reviews on this?

Anyone got setup pictures of this tv in their home?

I would love to get some info.

Just got a dm-32 this week, it's on the wall above the fireplace in my bedroom. So far so good. Using HD Bell PVR on it and it looks great. Only initial concern is there doesn't seem to be a tint control??

i'll come back with more info as I play with it and discover it's intricacies

Cool.

If you could take some pictures, that would be cool.

Ordered one a couple weeks ago. When I received it and hooked it up, the bottom right hand corner of the screen was blank. Needless to say that the TV was promptly returned.

I re-ordered. I'll reserve judgement until I receive the replacement.

Got the replacement on Wednesday and it checks out okay. The picture is a lot better than the 13 year old CRT that I was using. I'm not a connoisseur of wide screens but I am pretty happy with it for the price. I don;t have an HD source to feed it so I've only seen SD content on it.

A shame you don't have an HD source.

You could always connect it to you PC via VGA input and download some of the Apple HD Movie trailers or some of the Windows Media HD IMAX content for free. Then you could at least see HD.

As for your SD source, how are you getting it? Digital Box -> S-video, or simply the coaxial cable?

One last thing, could you take some pictures. If you don't mind.

"So far so good. Using HD Bell PVR "
Did you find a remote code on the Bell remote for the daytek?
Thanks

I'm Loving my DM32!
Great picture in HD/SD and not one dead pixel.
My only complaint is the remote codes.
The DT3220 must have used major brand codes because I met somebody with a Bell 9200 PVR that programmed the PVR remote to control the set.
I have tried every Bell remote ever made on code scan to try and find a code that works on the DM32, but no luck.
Have to use my Harmony 659 which I hate because I like the PVR buttons on Bell and my TiVo.
Cheers

Have just ordered a DM32, seems to be a good buy based on features/price.

Anyone know when Motorola is going to produce a sat. box with HDMI output vs. DVI?

I am planning on DVI-->HDMI from the sat. box, with separate Audio connection. I have a DVD recorder that will take a composite feed from the sat. box, with component Video back out to the monitor, again with separate Audio, but I don't know whether the DM32 will take two RCA Audio feeds.

Any comments on how this will work, or insight on Motorolla's sat. boxes?

Cheers!

How much is this set going for? And where can somebody buy one? Curious.

The DM32 is selling at costco.ca right now. Contrast 1600:1; brightness 500cd/m2; resolution 1366 x 768; HDMI input; 4 stereo speakers 20w total. A perfect bedroom set for us--specs are comparable to Sony Bravia or LG but much cheaper. We will see what it looks like when it gets here... but I need someone to tell me about the number of audio plugs on the back (since the Starchoice box doesn't have HDMI out).
Cheers.

UPS finally got the set to me a couple of days ago, had it set up within 20 minutes, and I have to say I am impressed by the PQ--no dead pixels. For the price this is the best 32" LCD around right now!

Re cable set up, I have DVI-->HDMI plus RCA stereo out from a *C 505. Composite out from 505 to a Lightscribe DVDR, and component plus RCA stereo out to the TV. Set up is very good, but I think it could be improved with SVideo + RCA out from the 505 to the DVDR. Anyone with experience with a similar set up?
Cheers...

Have had the set for over 3 months now. I use an MX remote so the codes with cable/sat are not an issue. The problem with the TV is as I play with the sharpness/brightness the quality deteriorates rapidly. If I use the factory settings everything looks fine, but I need a setting between 'skin cancer tanning mode' and mild mode. Any time I play with it I end up going back to a factory setting because I can't make it look good.

It's a bedroom TV so it's still great. Now $649 at Costco!

Alrighty heres the deal. I bought the viewsonic and wasn't too happy with the sd quality. Decided to buy the Daytek online since it was favoured to have better SD quality. I'm comparing them side-by-side and heres what I found. I'm about the return the Daytek unless anyone can help me.

1.For SD quality the Daytek is better like everyone said. Not a hell of a lot better like you would see on a brand like Sony's tv but it is pretty clear on daytek. I would totally reccomend the Dayteks SD quality over VS. VS's SD is crap but I guess I could live with it.

2.I find that the sound quality on the VS is better than the Daytek. This won't be much of a problem in most peoples cases because they would have an external surround sound system.

3. The Daytek takes a longggg time to turn on (like 15-25secs) while the VS turns on in about 5 secs.

4. I actually like the VS's remote a lot better than Dayteks. Daytek's kind of have stuff scattered all over while the VS's is more organized.

5. (Why I'm about to return the daytek unless someone can help me.) The VS has MUCH BETTER HD QUALITY!. The Daytek has little colour range and isn't very bright with it's HD. However the Viewsonic looks to have a much beter colour range and is much brighter than the Daytek in terms of HD. I used my ps3 to find this out.

6. With an HDMI cable with the Daytek you have no way to change some of the sttings like sharpness, colour, tint etc. You can only change the brightness and contrast. With the VS you can adjust everything in it's menu with HDMI.

So heres the deal. I don't think it is enough to sacrifice the HD quality of the Viesonic for the Dayteks SD quality. I thought the quality of the HD on the Daytek was going to be perfectly fine but I was sadly mistaken. So if there is no way to fix the quality of the Daytek's HD then I'm returning it. Anyone know if there is a way?

Thanks,
Taz

Sorry guys heres my updated post. I don't know how to edit theres no button...I cahnged the coaxil cable in my VS to Svideo like the Daytek. I was using Svid for daytek while using coaxil for VS....

1.For SD quality the Daytek is just as bad as the VS, which is a good thing because I found out why my VS's SD wasn't looking so bad. It was on a coaxil cable....Once I changed it to an Svideo it looked much better. The VS even looks better than the Daytek's SD if the Daytek had an Svideo and VS had an RCA cable. VS has much wider range of colours and they are much brighter and vivd.

2.I find that the sound quality on the VS is better than the Daytek. This won't be much of a problem in most peoples cases because they would have an external surround sound system.

7. The Daytek is very heavy and large. It is about 2 inches bigger in depth than the VS.

8. You can access the Service menu by pressing 991 in the regular menu on the VS to make even more adjustments so your TV will look better. I have no idea how to get into the Dayteks service menu.

9.The Daytek has a lot of inputs though. 2 RCA, 2Components, 1 VGA, 1 Coaxil, 1HDMI compared to Viewsonics 1RCA, 1 Component, 2 Coaxil, 1 VGA, 1HDMI.

10. Overall I just found that the VS had much brighter, vivd, wider range of colours.

So heres the deal. I thought the quality of the HD on the Daytek was going to be perfectly fine but I was sadly mistaken. Also the SD was supposed to be a lot better but it wasn't, so I'm returning the Daytek...was not worth the hassle at all...trust me...I shoulda trusted he costco guys. They said anything online is not a very good purchase. Anything in store is much better in quality. They said I was much ebtter off with my VS than Daytek but I didn't listen. So to save you guys the hassle of returning to VS for Daytek let me tell you to stick with your VS.

Thanks,
Taz
