BrianL11 2007-03-01, 12:37 AM I found it odd that they are clearly in the open for people to handle. Normally sheltered somewhere away
That's a good thing. If they're out in the open they are more likely to be purchased.
Gord Lacey 2007-03-01, 03:56 PM A shortage is described as "a deficiency in quantity." Stores in the Edmonton area are almost completely sold out of PS3s (Costco has some). There aren't any at Future Shop, Best Buy, Walmart or Zellers, which means there's a shortage of them, and Sony is planning to ship more consoles so stores have them in stock.
I was in NYC last week and didn't see any PS3s in the Manhattan stores I was browsing.

Jon snow 2007-03-01, 09:56 PM More desperate spin by Sony... every store I've been in has had PS3's in stock - and I hear much the same by people living all across North America on various forums.
Sony is trying to divert attention from the dissapointing PS3's sales by claiming there is a shortage... the truth is people just aren't buying Sony's big black box. Simple as that.

I'll repeat from the rules of the forum
No Rudeness and Flaming - denigrating other members with criticism and sarcastic comments is not acceptable.

And the reason is there are no top games. Come on Sony. Let's get out GTHD, God of War, Ratchet and Clank and the other exclusively licensed products you have on the PS3 and then it will be worth getting one.
toybox 2007-03-02, 05:11 PM It was wierd that I was at the Dowtown Vancouver Costco the other day, and saw, like 10 PS3's (60G type). I guy was staring at it for quite awhile, but I don't think he picked one up. $799 was way to much for me, as well. But at least I know if I want one now, they are there.
Camvan 2007-03-03, 11:35 AM Same stack has been at the downtown Vancouver costco for a few weeks now, I looked at the labels, made a note of the numbers - checked twice - they don't seem to be selling fast.
Future Shop hasn't had one in months and it seems no one else does. You would think it was pulled from market??
eimaj 2007-03-04, 01:36 AM Went to the Sony Store here in Red Deer and they had 2, Wal-mart always seems to have some but they usually disappear quick. With the recent price increase, I think more people are going to shy away.
MarcP 2007-03-04, 04:12 PM Costco at Heartland Center in Mississauga had a pile of 60GB PS3 yesterday. Maybe 20 or so PS3's. I went back today and the pile is still there.
Gord Lacey 2007-03-04, 06:58 PM Doesn't Costco sell them in a bundle though? I know that's how they do it online.

macemuscle 2007-03-05, 12:48 PM EBGames at Eaton Centre in Toronto had a good half dozen PS3s on the shelf yesterday
PokerChip 2007-03-05, 01:11 PM Wait for sales to pick up big time over the next few weeks. SEVERAL games are coming out, starting tomorrow, coinciding with the European launch.
CMORMOVIES 2007-03-05, 07:47 PM Here in Moncton I have seen them at Walmart, Superstore, HMV, Blockbuster, Costco and Futureshop ( On Christmas Eve no less). I guess the shortage is mostly regional.

Yeah, the Costco bundle includes an extra controller and either NBA 07 (It isn't EA but I can't remember the full name) or another game that starts with G...
I want a PS3 eventually, but not at $800 + taxes at Costco (Or $700 + taxes everywhere else) for a 60GB version...

Gord Lacey 2007-03-08, 09:39 PM That's why Costco has the bundle - how many people want NBA 07 and Genji (horrible, horrible camera in that game!)? Not many. If it was a bundle that included an extra controllers and Resistance then you'd see a lot more of them selling, or rather you wouldn't see them on the shelf.

Dondo 2007-03-10, 12:55 PM I haven't been desperate to get a PS3, I've been waiting patiently for them to come back is stock so I could get one without worrying about how fast I got to the store. I've been watching the Future Shop website, assuming that when they got it back in, they'd show it as an "In Stock" item.
So yesterday I decided I couldn't wait anymore, because I just got a new 58" plasma. So I went out looking around town (Brantford) - and EB and Wal-Mart both had units in stock, and EB said it had been in for weeks. So I wonder why Future Shop is not getting any supply, or are they just not showing it on the website for some reason?
EB and Walmart both at $659 for 60 gig model.
PrimeBane 2007-03-12, 12:53 AM Saw a pile today at Superstore in Calgary (NW)... $699.99 each
They have some online right now on both Futureshop and Bestbuy.
