Sadly I've heard the same rumor for Walmart... and buy talking with a BB sales guy last night the numbers aren't good there either.

Hopefully they're just rumors... but I have a bad feeling they might not be.

Well, I got the call. Of the 4 sold, only 3 could be honoured but my bro and I were 1, 2 so we're ok. These are in Calgary. Phew! In hindsight I'm glad we spent the 13 hours in October to get one. Still maybe more effective to have just paid 2K, but we'll see what the price comes in at over the next few days.

A telling sign is that Best Buy Canada will only be offering 80 units online tomorrow. (10 per hour for 8 hours). (See their website, details are there)

That speaks volumes about the total number of units that are going to be available in Canada tomorrow.

where exactly did you find this info (link please)...their site is pretty difficult to navigate.

What the hell is Sony doing releasing a product that they cannot supply? It makes the company look second-rate and will push gamers to the competition. I hear there are some great deals for 360 bundles coinciding with the PS3 release. Bill will have the last laugh tomorrow.

Well I just called my local Walmart for fun. There are 12 people lined up there. Crazy...I mean I live in hickville NS. I thought I was the only one with a 360...;)

Am I missing something here? I've been following every aspect of the launch of the PS3 and I fail to see why people are so excited about it. Its online capability seems weak, it doesn't appear to do anything the 360 can't (in fact there seems to be evidence that the 360 is a better machine), and the game selection is weak right off the bat.

I waited 6 months before buying a 360, once it proved itself in the marketplace (and I couldn't resist Oblivion). Why do people camp out in parking lots? I just don't get this...

I don't think you're giving it enough credit Jon... No sense reiterating everything you should already know about it but I'll be terse.

- You may not get one until summer if you don't get one soon.
- It's a good and inexpensive Blu-Ray player.
- It's a nearly silent and very powerful HTPC which includes online access for newsgroups, etc which can be integrated into a living room easily
- The games will be great in time - and GT5 is a big deal for me. I bought a PS2 only last year just to play GT4.
- Opens the door to SACD
- Full 7.1 high-res uncompressed audio could have a huge impact on my HT Gaming experience.
- Look how much these cost to make... Obviously it's a great piece of hardware.
- It has the potential to feature releases that were once only PC like Civilization, etc due to the keyboard/mouse support. I'd be happy to ditch my PC if I could have all the same games and games that aren't dummed down for the console. Compared to a gaming PC this is dirt cheap.

Does anyone here know how many units the Real Canadian Superstore locations http://www.superstore.ca are getting? And when will the stores sell ? Midnight tonight or tomorrow morning at opening?

I'm not far from the Don Mills & Eglinton location.

I find it funny how people say ya its going to be great etc.The fact is it very well could be a flop.

The ones I've heard about have mostly been 2 units, and out here they'll be selling when the store opens, and most are doing a ticket system where they hand them out to the first x in line. But you should definately call and confirm how it will be handled (could be a lottery) and get a visual/physical confirmation of the number of systems in store from the manager him/herself (no one else) of the number of units they have on-hand.

I'm not going to argue with 360 fans... I've stated the reasons I want one and I'm ok to leave it at that.

No way I'm a 360 "fanboy here to bash the PS3... the fact is the PS3 hasn't shown me any incentive to buy one. Have you read about its online functionality... compared to Xbox Live it seems amateurish... have to admit, that the excellence of Xbox Live was a big factor in my giving the Microsoft console a chance. Has impressed me so far...

If Sony can deliver, I can see me buying a PS3... but given what I've seen so far I am amazed at the excitement for this thing... and don't get me started on the price. :p

Good example of differing priorities. Online gaming means absolutely nothing to me because I just don't have the time to play frequently. I need to be able to save a game and then not play it at all for 3 weeks or maybe more.

OTOH I really enjoy relaxing when I maybe have 30 mins to spare at night by watching part of a movie. The Blu-Ray alone is worth the $600 to me.

Geez I can't believe I'm about to say this... But what about the system do you see has the potential to be very disappointing to me (and to a lesser extent the rest of the people excited about the PS3)?

The biggest ? in my mind is the extent to which it can replace my gaming PC by releasing PC-like titles. I realize this is an iffy one, but Sony is targetting people like me and everything about the PS3 hardware and everything that Sony's been saying indicates that Sony's gonna give it a shot.
