How could they miss Das Boot out? Unforgivable IMHO

Three Kings? Is this a joke. The Longest Day is also missing.

My War Genre thread might be the next on my list of polls now.

The fact that the Longest Day is missing makes this list VERY poor IMHO

I would agree, his list is sorely lacking. I know at the time that Thin Red Line had a lot of hype but I was quite disappointed when I seen it. Empire of the Sun is a poor choice for a top ten list. It probably would not make my top 100 list.

Some other ones not mentioned that would be in my top ten are:

The Big Red One
Where Eagles Dare
The Guns of Navarone
Schindlers List

I think Das Boot was one of the best if not the best movie about War ever made.

Man, Thin Red Line is one of the BEST war movies i've ever seen. Not typical macho crap. I love how it is an extremely slow movie. Most war movies are all about the action sequences, and TRL broke that mould. Excellent acting in it as well.

I know its not a movie but I would have included Band of Brothers

sheesh, no "Bridge on the River Kwai" or the "Great Escape"?

as Jackie Chiles from Seinfeld would say "shameful, scandalous, outrageous!"

Nor "Cross of Iron" or "The Cruel Sea" or a whole host of other pictures that were better than the stuff on his list.

Another thing: they are almost all about guys on their feet in the dirt... where are the great air force and navy war pictures? He should rename the article "My Own Personal Favourite Soldiers-in-the-Dirt War Movies".

Ummmm......no!

Scored an extraordinary 93 on the tomato-meter (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/three_kings/).

One of the more "intelligent" war movies out there for sure.
