: New Shaw Theme Packs
hawkeye19 2006-11-07, 07:26 PM Hope I'm not repeating anything here but I found a new Shaw brochure on the secure.shaw.ca site. It looks like what most of us (I'm in Calgary) will be offered when the free preview ends in January. Here it is:

Mixar69 2006-11-07, 07:53 PM I noticed two new SD services they have or will have the Fight Network:o (Adrenaline Pack) and Raptors TV (Sports Pack). Oh man I've been looking forward too see the Fight Network for a long time. Its about time Shaw.
Boozers3000 2006-11-07, 08:07 PM Nice they finally added Raptors NBA TV Ive been waiting for that for a long time. When will these services come into effect? This month, anybody know?
mike24 2006-11-08, 12:45 AM how does the Packaging Work because right Now I am paying $117 for Basic Cable,Tier (1,2,3),Digital Service, Movie Central (4 Services) and People Choice (Multi Pack) plus Internet. So how will the new Package work for existing Customer. does that mean I will be getting the Fully Loaded Package for $107 or what can someone explain to me.

Extreme 2006-11-08, 01:38 AM ^ Mike,
The way that i see it is you are going to pay 107 for every channel that shaw has plus internet. so that would be something like 142 (asuming 35 for internet) for every channel and internet. With that pricing it seems to be closer to bell than ever before... Im hoping that i can keep my curent package plus the 9 for the full HD pack....
Hope that helps

Talked to a Shaw CSR today. She told me that even though the new pricing and theme packs went into affect yesterday (presumably for new subs) they have NOT yet been told what the new bundle pricing (fully loaded + internet)will be. She says people like me (a customer since August) have been 'grandfathered' and she's not sure when that status will expire.
Boozers3000 2006-11-08, 01:27 PM I talked to a SHAW CSR and she said both Raptors NBA TV and the Fight Network should be launched near the end of the month
farfromover 2006-11-08, 01:31 PM Noticed National Geographic HD and Showcase HD... Anyone know when we will be getting these channels as well?
talljak 2006-11-08, 02:16 PM Ive heard mid December like around the 19th or something
oilblue 2006-11-09, 02:47 AM Yeah, those two HD channels are scheduled to launch Dec. 19th. Whether Shaw carries them upon launch is another question...
Alan Bealby 2006-11-09, 12:03 PM In a recent Canada Post mailing to me, the notification that Shaw HD Plus was to start on Jan. 1, 2007 and that National Geographic HD and Showcase HD would be part of that package and the two channels would be starting in a free preview mode in December. If it does start on December 19'th, that won't be much of a preview.
One concern I have is that Kelowna has been getting some of the announced services later, in some cases months later than other Shaw service areas. I know it is not as bad as some other areas that have been much, much delayed in getting new channels, especially the new HD ones. However it really irritates me when they offer new channels and give a free preview period that ends before I can preview the channels. I have called in several times to protest the lack of a free preview when it occurs but have been unsuccessful in getting an extension. None of these channels, fortunately, have been ones I really have been looking forward to so I refuse to pay to preview them and have thus kept my monthly Shaw bill lower than it might be otherwise.
Mixar69 2006-11-09, 03:43 PM I just spoke with a CSR today and because I had a few questions regarding my bill and she informed me that if you were paying the extra $3.00 for encore avenue you are no longer paying that and regarding the fight network and Raptors TV they will in fact be launching within the week or next week which is close to what was said already in this forum. Good stuff looking forward to it.

Sounds good
sugartune 2006-11-09, 06:25 PM I'm very happy to get the Fight Network. I will definately buy that channel. I figured it was just a matter of time until we got it because Starchoice has had it for a while now.
magnet 2006-11-10, 05:40 PM With the new Theme pack pricing you can choose any 7 digital channels for $7.95. I'm saving enough to cover my digital timeshifts package, I get 11 more channels, and I have 4 cents to spare.
Before:
More Movies (action, Diva, IFC, Doc, EA): $8.95
2 diginets (NHL & RDS): $2.99
Total: $10.94
Now:
Customized Theme Pack (Action, Diva, IFC, Doc, NHL, RDS, DejaVu): $7.95
Encore Avenue (now Free): $0.00
CDN Timeshifts: $3.95
Total: $10.90
Remember you are free to swap any channel at any time... just need to call 310-SHAW and use the call back feature, so you aren't waiting in elevator muzak hell.
talljak 2006-11-10, 05:55 PM Is it still possible to just order 1 or 2 digi channels?
magnet 2006-11-10, 06:00 PM $2.49 for 1
$2.99 for 2 (might only be grandfathered???)
$7.95 for Theme Pack (7)
$13.95 for 2 Theme Packs (14)
$26.95 for all theme packs (~43)
You can log on to https://secure.shaw.ca/ and add the channels automatically without calling Shaw - you will see how much you bill will be before you commit to adding them. Unfortunately you can't delete or change channels online.
Also, Fox News and Bloomberg can only be ordered in a theme pack. I think it is because they are US Stations.
mike24 2006-11-10, 06:04 PM so if I am paying $120 for Basic,Tier(1,2,3), Digital service, Movie Central (4 Service) and Internet? Do I get All the Theme Packs now and Timeshifting Channels also for $107 now? or do Still get the same deal I have now?
phantom76 2006-11-10, 06:06 PM can anyone log into secure.shaw.ca ? I keep getting a message about how the site is unavailable
