I don't know. When you tune to the analog channels, like say the Weather Network on channel 18, do you see the Dolby Digital logo on the right hand side of the information bar like you see with the digital channels?

Do you think on a TV with a built-in QAM tuner, that it'll pick up the now digital basic cable/full cable channels? It'd be cool if I could pick them up without a box. Channels above 59 would be understandibly encrypted.

So today is the day that the channels were supposed to be switched in Calgary... has anyone seen any differences in PQ (picture quality) yet?

I didn't get a chance before I went to work this morning, but will check when I get home...

Ok just a quick addition..

Both of my boxes were still reading analogue.. did a reboot on both boxes and still nothing has changed..

might call shaw and see whats up.. I love messing with those guys..

For me ...... it works when i press the "DISPLAY" button on my Sharp remote control. However, the clear crisp picture says it all.


PS .... You might want to leave your cable boxes on for a while (24/7); so SHAW can PING them for the new FW update.

On the box- hit power, then immediately OK/select, you will have an option to scroll down to channel status.

I'm not sure about that...I'm sure mine has always said "Digital Input" when I press "Display". Being that my TV is hooked to the box with an HDMI cable, the input would always be digital, regardless of the cable input to the STB, wouldn't it?

Hmmmm. No one posting this afternoon from Calgary itself. Guess they must all be mesmerized by the beautiful crystal clear digital channels.:D

According to this post, Calgary is the one to switch today. Vancouver and Edmonton are scheduled to switch on the 28th. So, really no surprise that Vancouver is still analogue. Calgary gets to be the guinea pigs. ;)

Is it supossed to be the same channel? If so, no change in Calgary (here at least). All the analog channels still say analog. HD says 256QAM.

Too .... too .... wierd!!!! I just checked my settings again and SHAW just switched me back to anal mode within the last 30 minutes. Time check now is 8:10PM
