: Shaw: analogue SD channels also in digital late November, er December, er 2007?
stty0 2007-03-15, 03:49 PM I too sent an email. Here is the generic reply:
We understand you are requesting to be changed to the All Digital lineup in order to improve the picture quality of the channels. To better enable us to assist you with the technical inquiries and concerns, we do urge you to please contact our Cable Support Department at 604-629-4000 open 24hrs/ 7 days a week and one of our Representatives will be happy to assist you.
hdguy20060207 - Let's see... you're in Edmonton, so call Shaw and ask them to put you on channel map 4001 on the 2000 and 6412, instead of channel map 1. Your 700 should already be on 4001.
For readers in other locations, you'll need a different channel map (the above is for Edmonton only), so don't ask for 4001, or you'll be unhappy with the outcome! ;)
crazycanuck 2007-03-21, 04:29 PM So, any news from the "All Digital" front? Who has it, rumours etc.
Nothing here in Winnipeg yet.
Cisco99 2007-04-04, 06:43 PM Got switched at the same time I got my PVR (non-HD) The service rep told me that it's part of the PVR sales screen...i.e. she wouldn't be able to complete the transaction unless she switched me to all digital. This may be a new policy here in Vancouver.
The reception is a big improvement with my old Sony 34" CRT. The Canuck's game on Sportsnet (22) last night was crystal clear and identical whether watching it live or delayed off the PVR.
Other bonuses for me are all about sound:
-- it simplifies the wiring to the receiver. (used to have to feed it analog and digital signals)
-- receiver no longer gets confused (rare but it happened) about autoselecting the appropriate source when switching back and forth from digital to analog channels.
-- sound volume is constant for all channels now.
and (biggest bonus)
-- I no longer have to manually switch from digital to analog and back on the base of my Sony MDRDS3000 Wireless Dolby Digital Headphones.
Shaw Guru 2007-04-04, 06:51 PM Cisco99: It sounds like you purchased a DCT 3080 which a requiremnt is that it needs to be on the all digital channel map in order for all the channels to work properly. I'm glad to hear that it is working so good. I can't wait til the island get the technology and I will be buying a 3080 of my own the first day.
brobertson 2007-04-19, 02:33 PM Victoria CSR stated it is not yet available, sometime in 2007 is what they are told to say......
If anyone in Victoria gets a different story (as if that could happen...) let us know please.
Still no luck in Victoria, the first guy that answered the call said May 1st, he then forwarded me to Service Repair and they said in about a month (he had to check with his senior tech), in the mean time they want to send a tech to see about boosting my signal...thanks, but not exactly what I was hoping for.
Shaw Guru 2007-04-19, 06:46 PM brobertson: No definite date as yet. As they said check back in about a month again or watch local papers for advertising when the product launches. :-)
shawguy 2007-04-19, 07:29 PM are you sure Victoria doesn't have it yet...I was looking at Press releases today on the Shaw website.... out of the three press releases for April 16, 2007...Nanaimo doesn't have it but.... Victoria and Winnipeg have this paragraph:
"These channel changes will provide more digital television options, new lowcost
Digital TV hardware options and more HD (high definition) content."

Yup... They changed a bunch of channels around today and added some new HD channels (which is cool) but the basic channels are still analog. I'm hoping for the May 1st date, that's when I plan to call them back :)
brobertson 2007-04-25, 04:21 PM Victoria - Latest: Had a Shaw tech over the other day to test my signal and he said May 9th is the day. He gave me the same story as others have heard that aren't changing everyone over, you have to call and request to moved to the all digital signal. All new customers that purchase the new digital box will be on all digital right away...
