Well I called the CSR to get them to add the FCS code to my account, but I am not at home to verify.

How/where can I check on my account services (via secure.shaw.ca) if the code has been added?

I see nothing on my account online referring to D-FCS, but as soon as they reset the box things were good.

If you check your bill online (shaw secure etc), it will be posted under all your other billing information right at the bottom before the total.

Had to get them to do a "hard" reset on my box and sure enough, I am getting digital channels now. This hard reset cleared my favorite channel set up, but retained my series recordings. (I wonder if the favorites were cleared because of the new channel map?)

I don't think the improvement in PQ is as dramatic as others have said. So far this morning, the only show that made me go "wow.. what a difference" was watching Backyardagans on Treehouse with my son. That show looked awesome.

As for sportsnet and TSN... didn't notice that much of a difference.

CFCN (CTV calgary) looks way better IMO. Also, Fox (channel 22). RobTV also looks amazingly better.

Online customer care - account services - add digital services

will be listed there.

Yesterday I phoned to ask if I could get the " All Digital FCS" and to my amazement, they did. Tried 2 times previously and was rejected. One difference is that I phoned during the day , not in the evening. Don't know if that was the trick as maybe staff during the day are more senior.
The person I spoke with was prompt and before I asked that the box be reset, they indicated that it was necessary to do.

I can't say that the channels are better. If anything i find them more consistent in how they look. I'm ok with the quality of the picture. I was more interested in getting that much more out of our 6412 as we seemed to record more analog channels than digital.

I did ask why all digital boxes have not been updated. His answer to me was that it wasn't a priority for Shaw. More interested in selling the new boxes and supporting then with digital. But he said that if people wanted it, Shaw would provide the all - digital signal. As mentioned in other posts, the experience with other CSR's suggest they didn't get the "memo". Its very odd that Shaw does not ensure that all its staff know.

I also asked if any juicy rumours. He knew about the 2 new HD channels that launched yesterday but understands that 2 more channels are coming. I don't know if they are HD or not.

I assume going to all digital would solve the variance in the audio between the digital and analog stations, right? It always drives me crazy when I'm on an analog channel, watch something on the PVR (turn the volume up) and then I'm hit with the loud analog volume once I stop watching the PVR.

I just called shaw here in Vancouver and they will not add Digital FCS to my account for my 2000 and 6200. They are waiting until January to roll it out and gave the party line that the Full Digital was only for DCT700 and 3080 at this time.

The tech said that shaw was still testing the older units for the digital lineup.

Am I getting the run around on this? If customers in Calgary and Edmonton are getting on with this then isn't it tested on the "Older" boxes already then?

The tech seemed apologetic that he was unable to do this for me.

Grrr...couldn't get the tech to do it at my house.
Called back because I couldn't get MC and some HD channels. Asked again. CSR said I was the second person to ask about it, but that it wasn't possible.

Will call again in a couple days, maybe then I'll get someone that can/will do it for me.

I think the main problem is Shaw is making this a lot more complicated then it needs to be. All cable systems that have all-digital in Canada were able to roll this out on all DCTs at the same time.

I think Shaw is throwing down the "Were testing" card so they can sell some of the new DCT700s and DCT3080s. There is absolutely no reason for an all digital map not to work on any STB.

Called for the first time, asked for "All Digital FCS" code to be added to my account. The CSR asked me where I heard about it from, then transferred me to tech support. Tech support asked me where I heard about it from, then went and asked his manager. 2 mins later, he added it to my account and it works!

I've been reading this forum for months so I'll make this my first post.

I called last night around 9:30pm and tried to get all my analogue channels mapped to digital. Got the same line as a lot of others in this thread. All digital is only available to the DCT700 and DCT3080 boxes ... can't do it for your 6412 ... sorry.

I tried again tonight at 4:45pm and got a guy in internet support who helped me out. I told him what I wanted to do and he knew what I was talking about but had to check if it was possible. According to him there were certain "all digital areas" in Calgary and if I landed in one of those I could probably switch. It turn out I was in one of those areas so he went ahead and switched me over ... reset the 6412. At first I was only getting "not subscribed" on the analogue channels and he realized he made mistake when I suggested he add the FCS code to my account. After that everything is great and most of the channels have a significant PQ improvment. At least in my opinion.

After this I chatted with him for a few minutes and asked why Shaw wouldn't just push the digital mapping onto all the digital capable boxes. He mentioned the all digital areas again and that Shaw was rolling this out in phases and right now was only selling the feature to the 700 and 3080 boxes. I suggested that Shaw should at least make this an option for digital capable users who want it and he said that eventually Shaw WOULD push this to all the digital capable customers.

Anyway ... that's my experience. Only had to call twice to get it.

Well, I called a csr (female) earlier today and much the same as other posts...wanted to know how I knew of this and that it could not be added and would I like to purchase the new $98 box? Not likely going to downgrade from what I have. Explained that this had been done locally as per posts here. Told me not to believe everything I read on the internet.
Anyway she did eventually put the code on my account but would not reset the stb's. Lots of yadayada, etc. and before I had to put on chains to get out of there I said thanks and hung up.
Called back this evening and talked to another nicer csr and he said that was only in the testing phase and that could not be done and even if he did they are going through the ones that have been done and are removing it because of bugs (missing ppv chan., etc.) Nice guy but more eieio... He said that they will be switching sometime in the new year. Oh well, just have to wait I guess...

Unbelievable. I had it done and then as a result of a brownout the box lost the digital mapping and Shaw re-entered it without any grief. Can't believe the inconsistency.

Hey guys, just wondering has anyone else experienced outages on Food Network (channel 25) or HGTV Canada (channel 51)? Yesterday my mom said it was blank for at least half an hour and today I noticed the picture froze on the Food Network and I lost picture for a little while but on my other non-digital tvs I still had the Food Network.

I know that there is the possibility of hiccups with the All Digital Package and I still want to keep it but is this happening to other people too? Oh, and has anyone else noticed all the Starchoice ads now :p ? Someone earlier meantioned that there was no Shaw Cable ads and there was only Starchoice ads now; I can confirm that ;)

An update to my attempts to have my stb's reset to recieve all digital signals...

I called a half hour ago and was put on the call back sequence as it would appear that they were too busy or not enough csr's are working today. The guy called back a few minutes ago and I said I was having a problem with the guide not displaying some of the new HD chan. and would he do a reset and make sure I was getting the all digital mapping. Not a problem this time (finally) and all is working now. Makes a pq difference on the lower chan. and the sound level is somewhat more balanced. Took all of about one minute per stb.
Just gotta keep trying to get the right csr I guess....

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Has anyone noticed if the analog feed still has the shaw ads? I'd check but I'm not in Calgary right now and both my TVs are all digital so I'd have to disconnect it to check.

Seems like they are using the starchoice feed for the all digital feed of the analog channels instead of producing their own, and why not seeing as they own starchoice.

Merry Christmas everyone.

yes the Analog feed still does have the shaw ads. I can tell cause we have only one DCT in our house but 3 other analog tvs (need to pickup some of the $98 boxs :p ).

I still find it really funny that I get the Starchoice ads on my All Digital TV!

I know what you mean, when I had digital cable, they got the signal from SC and I watched SO much SC commercials.

Hi, I'm Jenny and I work at SC,... What do I love about SC? Movies! I love a good chick flick!

I went insane.

Will Shaw sub in their own ads over the SC ads? Anyone know?
