Hey, have you always been able to recieve Channel 72 (CTV-Calgary) without the "Timeshifts Package"?

I was just flipping through the channels in Calgary and I don't get any of the other timeshifts but I still get Channel 72 for some reason. I just had the All Digital FCS code added to my account so I don't know if it was like that before.

Hi there,

I called in and got put through to a HD tech guy and we chatted for a bit but he said that he couldn't do it. I mentioned how other people were getting it and he said he was going to look into it. He mentioned how only staff were getting to test it out. I asked him if he could call me back as he said that he was going to look into it....a little bit later he did and did the switch.

Very pleased.....22 Sportsnet is like night and day now. Very cool. Thanks to everyone who posted their experiences.

If you're in Calgary then it would seem to me that Ch 72 (CTV-Calgary) isn't a timeshifted channel.

The StarChoice, Shaw Broadcast service is all digital and has most locals in digital.

Except for really small markets that are missing like: CKX - CBC affiliate Brandon, or CH Red Deer.

Shouldn't they be able to get these feeds instead...

Argh.. I finally get a rep who is willing do it, and then it decides not to work. She added the code, reset the box.. all the channels say dolby digital and I am getting guide information.. just no picture.

man I thought everything went well talk to the CSR I he put in the code he said he did and he didnt have to reset the boxes and waited 30 min like he said for it to come in, and sure enough checked diagnostics and still analog. I guess I will have to try again, very nice CSR but no dice.

APTN CH-100 digital and APTN CH-100 analog are different stations. Time zone??

Back a couple pages that was said about the digital and analog versions of APTN. I can confirm that in Calgary, AB the analog version of APTN is different then the digital version of APTN.

Any ideas why? I don't watch that channel but it's odd that the whole channel is different.

I've been thinking; if you have one of the new "All Digital" Shaw DCTs (DCT700 for example) and the "All Digital FCS" code is on that account, would your other "analog/digital" DCTs (DCT2500 for example) recieve an All Digital signal or a mixed signal?

I know this isn’t exactly what you asked but I have two 2000HT boxes and I had only one box switched to all digital. My other box is still receiving the analog line up in analog.

Hi there,

The way I understood it re: the code to the account was that the rep on the phone has to do each box individually.

If the code shows on your online billing area, it would be there if the Digital was changed over on one of your units. I remember the guy on the phone said that he had to do each box individually. So people could have the code on their account but not all of their boxes could be "flashed" to receive the all digital

I thought I should share my experience with Shaw's wonderful  customer service. I too just got off the phone with a CSR in the "add services" area for digital cable. I asked that the all digital FCS be added to my account. Their reply was "you'll need a digital terminal for this." I mentioned that I have an existing DCT 2500 and isn't that sufficient. Shaw's response, "as of mid-november you've needed our new DCT for $98. Any existing hardware purchased prior to that date will not be able to modified to receive an all-digital signal." I inquired about a date for future roll out to existing DCTs and their response was, "we're not mandated to convert to all digital to 2009, so I can't really say."

It would be nice if Shaw had a common policy in place that everyone that asks for the all digital FCS is receiving it or don't implement it at all. Makes me wonder why a customer that invested $$$ in hardware has to downgrade to inferior technology (no optical audio out or s-video) to upgrade the TV signal technology? If this is the case, I'm only out a couple hundred dollars, not the $750 some shelled out for the HD PVR.

The problem with that is that it's been proven that customers with existing boxes (2500's or 64XX's) can indeed get the all digital feeds.

What would be better is that if Shaw had a policy in place where all the CSR's had the same information.

Boozer, just get them to do a reset of you box. If they put the code in then it should work after the reset. My CSR didn't think he had to do a reset but I asked him to do one anyway and it was no problem.

just got off the phone with shaw and had my 6412 switched with no problem at all. The CSR transfered me to a service tech who was quite friendly.

One of the APTN channels is probably the Northern Canada feed and the other is the national feed. I'd imagin the digital one is from Shaw Broadcast Service which I believe is the national feed.

I called earlier today and asked for the All Digital FCS code to be added to my account but the CSR rep said he wasn't allowed to do it...he did say that they are planning to update everyone in the next month or so and that this would happen automatically.

I have called a regular CSR and the reception problem line, and both told me that I couldn't have all digital with my DCT6412. The "reception problem" representative told me that the new all-digital channel mapping would "damage" my HD PVR. He also said that he tried to add the code, but his computer would not accept it and gave him an error message.

Hmmm...my 6412 certainly seems damaged........NOT. I think the CSR was handing you a line. I'd call back and point out his idiocy.
