: Shaw: analogue SD channels also in digital late November, er December, er 2007?
well.. I have the Motorola 6412 HDPVR box(probably phase 1)
(not home now so i cant see how it is working)
but i checked online customer care - add services and the above code
"all digital fcs" is now there. I assume all will be well when i get home :)
heh. quoting myself but..
so i got home all excited to see digital on lower channels...but :(
it does not appear that i am all digital. I still have Ch2 tv listings. The lower channels do not have the dolby D .. I did the box off \ok-select menu and it says both tuners are still analog.
so either i am missing something or have to do something else. or the shaw dood lied to me(he did add the all digital line to my acct so maybe not)
what ever reason it did not seem to "take"
oh well. dont really watch the lower channels all that much anyway tho it would be nice to have history and space as digital.
Just adding the all digital code to your account won't get you on all digital, they still need to reset your dct(s) into the all digital format.
If they reset your dct into all digital format without the code then you will just get not authorised when you try to watch most of the full cable channels.
If they add the code to your account but don't reset your dct then it won't do anything at all. You don't even have to have all your boxes on all digital, one can be all digital and one can be on analog for example.
Sorry to hear it hasn't worked out for you yet. You may be disappointed that "Space" won't pause, fast forward, reverse or skip, though. It doesn't on my 3080 or 6412. Same with Much, More, Bravo and Star.
Guess that's one of the wrinkles to be ironed out.

Does that same thing on my 6416, just get some error message on those channels. But I don't use them much anyway, I didn't even notice until I read it here.

Hi jabo,
Thanks for confirming that this isn't just happening at my location. If all the channels were like that, the 6412s, 6416s and 3080s would be next to useless.
Hope they can fix this. I do watch at least 3 of those channels from time to time.

brgnewman 2006-12-06, 09:50 PM so all the channels on the "all digital" signal work, right? Like you can still watch them with no issues :p

Yup, they all seem to work fine. The only problem that I've noticed is the PVR not functioning on Space, Much, More, Bravo and Star like meshmellow said. Don't seem to have any problems watching those or any other channels though.
Any luck getting on all digital yet brgnewman?

If all the channels were like that I think I'd get them to put me back on analog on the 6416 until the fixed it, don't think its worth paying $700 for a 6416 so the PVR can not work. I bought this box purely for the pvr back in september. I don't have a HD TV yet. I hope to get a HD TV sometime in 2007 though.

Thank you, just wanted to make sure all of them work fine for viewing them. Here's the story so far:
Monday:
- Send email to Shaw Customer Service
Tuesday:
- Get a response back from Shaw saying:
Hello Barret,
Thank you for your email.
Shaw only offers All Digital services for the DCT700 and DCT3080. At this time no other DCT models are eligible for All Digital channels.
Do your neighbor's have DCT700 or DCT3080 currently? Are you able to provide their address so we may review how this is being done.
- Send an email with links to this topic and specific posts (most from you) proving this can be done in Calgary, AB.
Wednesday:
- No response yet....

What a strange request!

shawguy 2006-12-07, 12:00 AM So I have been reading this topic very closely, and its been very interesting to hear some people have done it and while others are being told it can't be done. I have read that some people get the Digital FCS code, so I would assume that DIgital FCS - Means Digital Full Cable Service. So does that mean there is a Digital BCS, or Digital BT1, Digital B12T etc? code depending on what package of analog you have? or does Digital FCS one standard code and they add other codes if they have to block certain channels? maybe this is why its not fully lanched yet, they have not defined other codes?
I don't know I am just throwing out what I have thought of
Shawguy
Here is a link to a quick webpage I threw together on angelfire with a few pictures of my boxes on all digital. I figure this might help people convince crs/techs that it is possible to get the dct 2500s, dct 6416s, etc on all digital.
If people do find this page useful then I will update it to make it better, because its not all that great at the moment. I don't have much time right now and don't want to spend much time on it if people don't use it anyway.
If it does become useful I might move it onto the shaw webpage thing, I just don't know how to work it at the moment. I don't know much about website creation.
If anyone has any comments, tips, questions feel free to let me know.

brgnewman 2006-12-07, 12:55 AM THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
I'm gonna fire that site off in an email to Shaw and see what they do. This is the proof I think that is gonna prove that this is possible to them.
BTW, how did you get into the service menu on the DCT2500?! I've been trying different things on mine and it does nothing.
- Barret
1. Turn the DCT on, tune it to a channel you want info on.
2. Turn off the DCT, then IMMEDIATELY press the OK/SELECT button
3. If you want channel info go down to 07 Current channel status on the dct2500 or 06 on the 6416
See the Digital Home FAQ (under help) "Motorola STBs" for this and other information.
Blintok 2006-12-07, 10:23 AM Well everyone. new development.
yesterday i spoke to a CSR and he added the "all digital FCS" to my acct. I phoned while at work so i couldnt check my TV. When i got home i was still analog. Found out they also had to reset my box(i had assumed the CSR was doing that in addition to adding the above line)
I finally got thru to a CSR this morning. Funny that both times i spoke to a CSR i did not get the resistance others here seem to get. I said they added the code yesterday but i need my box reset. she said ok i can do that give me a few min. was put on hold. after a few min box shut off and then a bit later the red message light came on.
She had me turn on box, it was on Channel 0. I flipped thru the channels..Ch2 is gone :) and Ch3 (Communist Broadcasting Corp) showed the Dolby Digital icon flipping thru the channels i see the Dolby icon now.. woohoo :)
the red light is still on, the CSR said it be on for a few hours as the box is now downloading stuff.
one thing i notice and i hope it because it still downloading but if i type in a ch# it does not change. i have to flip thru each channel. IE if i type 40 on the keypad, 40 shows on the DCT but then it goes back to previous ch# and does not change channel.

Ouch! I was gonna call them up about activating this all digital thing, but I think I'll wait for an update from you first. It'll take forever to go from AChnl (12) to the HD channels (300's) if I had to flip through each channel!
Did you try typing in 0-4-0?
no1important 2006-12-07, 11:01 AM So when they and if all boxes go digital does that mean simi subbing on the US Time Shifts and Ktla?

Sounds like you need to reset "autotune". Look in the menus for Setup -> Guide Setup -> Autotune. I think that's where you'll find it, but that's off the top of my head and I don't my hat on ;)

beanagee1 2006-12-07, 11:50 AM Given all the fuss on this thread you would think that this something really special. I often find the digital channels (ie. Fox Sports) to be overly compressed and not watchable on a big screen. How is the quality of the new digital channels?

I was kind of thinking the same thing...as far as SD programming goes, my 'analog channels' are some of the nicest looking ones.
I'm in no hurry to change over.
