pour ceux qui sont dans les Laurentides, les prix de MG Électronique pour les CM4228hd et 4221hd semblent imbattables

http://www.mgelectro.com/contact.php

Hi all!

I've finally decided to go OTA and drop my cable provider. However, I'm looking for an installer since except for the antenna (a 4228 Channel Master) I have no idea what type of cables / amplifier / ground that I need. Even if I knew I think I'd rather not take any chances, and get it right the first time.

If anyone can referer me a qualified installer (independent even better, compagnies really charge a lot for what it is really) for the Montreal region let me know.

Stop by Raybel on Notre Dame, they will sell you what you need at a decent price and even install it for you.

Braving traffic from the south shore to the East End is a bit much (I really hate driving); the Raybel site keeps generating Error 404 on any option. What kind of gear do they have and are the prices competitiveÉ

Then you shouldn't do it, you're probably very bad at it! (driving)

Just kidding of course,

I bought my CM4228 at raybel as well as an amp, turns out I didn't need the amp and they didn't make a fuss about taking it back and refunding me. The staff was knowledgeable and had plenty of inventory, the prices were ok too. That was over 2 years ago but the store is well established so I don't see why that would have changed since then. It's as good an electronics supplies store as any. Of course if you can find the same gear for 5% more expensive closer to where you live it might be worth the time and gas savings but I can't help you there I don't know of any similar outlets across the st-lawrence.

I'm with Aflipz. They rock.

If you know what you are doing and just NEED an antenna and won't ever return it (return policy bad).

Try http://www.microinformatique.ca/Page/prix2/prixdetail_morefrom_manufacturer_e.asp?VENDOR=Antennas%20Dir ect&cat=MM

They are in the south shore. Prices are VERY good for Antenna Direct Antennas, which I find are just as good as Channel Master.

Thanks for the link. I admit I rarely ever looked at antennas Direct however the prices do seem very good. Might take a drive to St-Hubert tommororw.
Being on the South Shore and all, I'm debating on the DB4 or the DB8 model...

Cheers, K!

Bigger is better :)

If you google Antenna's direct reviews, they are a pretty good manufacturer of outdoor antennas. I'm surprised at to the "quality / price", MUCH better than no name clones by a mile!

I shot off a few emails at Raybel... I feel their prices are a bit high; example, CM4228 is listed at 119$+ Tax. and a CM7777 preamp is 99$.

Still considering AD at this point.

That's quite a markup!

Dunno...that seems to be fair market price for a CM7777. A bit high for the CM4228 perhaps. Of course you can always get better deals online or used.

I've been unsuccessful in locating any used antennas in the area. You're right about buying online and I might go that route despite having a preference w/ purchasing an antenna retail myself (easier to return if it is defective etc)

cheers, K

I went over to Micro-Informatique this AM and the darn store was closed. No lights and no sign on the door. An above posted mentioned their return policy wasnt the best, now this... aint looking good for them

FYI: Amazon (US) is currently selling CM7777 Preamps for 73$ shipped. Its the best price I've seen so far both online and in stores

Cheers, K!

Pareil pour moi, je capte bien mieux SRC et CBC depuis quelques temps :)

Quelqu'un a une Channel Master CM-4221HD ? J'aimerai en faire l’acquisition pour la FOX et ABC.
