I want to have 2 separate itunes music libraries.
One library will contain apple lossless files for playback via my home theatre. The other set of files will be mp3 (or aac.. havent decided yet) for use on ipod itself.
How can I maintain 2 separate libraries? Is there a way to do this?
Thanks in advance.

So I basically want 1 itunes that holds all my lossless files for use on home theatre, and another itunes that will have mp3s that I can sync with the ipod.
how to do this?

The latest version of iTunes supports multi-libraries.
If you're running Windows, select (1 click) the iTunes icon, then hold down the Shift key and hit Enter. iTunes will prompt you with a dialog box with buttons to Choose a library or Create a library.

FYI: you can just hold down shift while you double-click the icon. No need to single-click and then do shift-Enter.

Is there a way to have two installs of iTunes on an XP PC that will run simultaneously? Accessing different libraries and organizing the files independently of each other, etc. Is this possible?

I belive so, under different users.

I know it can be done under different users, I was trying to avoid that.
Are there any other programs that have a similar interface to iTunes that I could check out?
