Has anyone ever watched these?
I have watched to "Kill a mockingbird" on TCM and thats it.
(and have The Long Long Trailer on the PVR)
Just curious if anybody finds value in these 3 movie channels?
Also still no timeshifts and only 6 HD channels but I see Shaw gave us another adult PPV channel, 203 on the dial.
Way to go Shaw, keep your moral compass pointed in the rite direction.

Hi:

I like TCM, and watch regularly. Don't know how they make a living, since there are no commercials. I guess that they are pitching their film library to others, and to DVD buyers, in a subtle way.

My one complaint is that their schedule is often inaccurate. But this is a minor annoyance. Overall its great!

I watched a movie of AMC. Very good but distracting because they were bleeping every second word at times.

TCM: I watch not all that often at all the only time I watched it was when they had an Anime special on it celebrating some Japanese director or when they had some of those old cartoons to bring back some memories but that’s pretty much it.

AMC: Sometimes its not so much the bleeping of the swearing that turns my crank but those stupid commercials that they repeat over and over again with the people who give their two sense on movies like the curtains have to be closed while watching a movie and imitating lines from movies and not to mention every time I tune to AMC I always see that screen writer who made Air Force One and Hallow Man like come on as if that pays the bills repeating the same segments over and over again. But when they come up I just pause it on my PVR for about 20 minutes or so and then come back so I have enough time to bypass them but overall it’s a good channel.

On a separate note yesterday I was looking at the Fox Movie Channel's website and that would have been a good channel to add in addition to AMC its unedited, commercial free but would also make a good addition.

AMC/Encore: It seems to have a bit better movies than encore 2 but those annoying "Movie Lover bits" are tedious. My complaint with this channel and encore 2 is that they show movies 20 years ago and most of them are not very good. I recorded Glory on Encore 2 a couple weeks ago but I think that is the only thing I have recorded since I recieved them. Never did subscribe to encore. I find TBS better in some ways as at least the moves are more recent but with TBS and so called other "superstations", the films are so cut up, I don't watch them. I don't know about AMC but why can't encore show movies made within the last 5 years and why can't the movies be similiar to what is shown on Movie Central?

TCM: I appreciate TCM for what its doing. I thing the introspective discussion before and after the movies are at least interesting and freash. I thought I read that AMC was doing this type of thing and dropped it, too bad. I think that since I recieved it, I may of watched 1/2 dozen movies. Unfortunately, I just don't find enough on TCM to interest me.

I think all 3 are excellent additions to Shaw's lineup. I particulary like TMC, but you can always catch a golden oldie on the other two.

I've never watched TCMs...for the most part, watching some grainy movie from 50 years ago just doesn't do it for me.

AMC is not bad at all...this week has been great, the whole Halloween fest has been fun. Halloween 1-4, Hellraiser, etc awesome.

The bleeping out is annoying, but it's still a solid addition by Shaw.

I also like the addition of EA2...

For me, TCM has been the best addition to my viewing lineup. I grew up watching old movies, and that interest hasn't faded. AMC and Encore have good movies, but all the ones I've watched are in 4:3 format, which I've found odd for movie-devoted channels! (Interestingly, I've seen a 10-minute feature a couple of times on TCM that examines the vast differences between the "pan & scan" version and the original widescreen format.)

And with no digital cable yet, I've lost The Golf Channel to AMC!

I don't watch the other two, but I love Encore ave. I watch the encore ave movies more than the main 4 movie central movies (I love all the batman, superman, lethal weapon, jaws, movies) I love hoe we get encore ave 2 for free, I only wish we didn't have to get mc1234 to get ea1 for $3.

I totally agree - I can only record or watch AMC's showings with a good time delay. The constant commercials about how great AMC is with people's opinions is pretentious and fairly boring.

This is not the best way to reinforce their brand as the constant commercials feature interviews that talk about how serious they are about movies while interrupting every 12 minutes. If they are so serious, why interrupt them with commercials that waste my time. I don't like the screenwriter's 2 segments especially.

I do like a lot of the movies they show, perfect for a quiet rainy afternoon.

I am still choked they moved BBC World to basic from digital, sure it saves me money but now Shaw inserts commercials when before when it was on digital there were never ever commercials.

They are inserting Shaw ads on GSN as well. So having it on the digital tier does not make it safe from "local ad insertion" or "local availabilities".

I want to like AMC but the edits are too annoying.
