The Replay of the game on at around 1AM was a DD5.1 signal, but audio was only out the LF & RF channels...

The 2nd HD truck MUST be operational. I can't see them renting a HD truck just for this game. It looks like some cameras aren't HD, but overall, I'm impressed. I've had my HDTV since Dec '05, and this is my first Canucks home game in HD. Thank you CBC!

If CTV owned the broadcast rights for NCIC, they'd put it all on TSN and I'd never be able to see hockey via OTA. Kudos CBC!

I was told its not.

I'm going to guess it was the Colorado/Vancouver game. It was produced in HD with 2.0 sound.

Marc,

Where did the second HD truck come from? Rented?

Ok marc thanks ;)

I guess it was 1) a rental 2) somehow one was borrowed from SRC assuming they have one.

SRC doesn't have a HD Truck.

CBC/SRC are using the same trucks.

HNIC is a triple header this weekend. Does anyone know what the format of each of the games is???

I would say the ottawa game will be 4:3, leafs will be HD, and Vancouver/Calgary will likely be 16:9 upconvert or potentially HD if they can do whatever they did last week again.

I would say OTT in 16:9upconvert, Leafs in HD, Vancouver in 16:9upconvert

That is exactly what the CBC HD Schedule (http://www.cbc.ca/hdtv/schedule/CBC_HD_nextweek1.pdf) implies. The Leafs game is listed as being on the Full network so CBOT-DT will probably show it and the Sens game will probably only be on CBOT-TV.

Edit: OOPS! I didn't notice the Sens game is at 3:00pm and is also listed as WS so it looks like Bruno is correct.

That would be good....

Andrew,

Last weekend CBOT had the Ottawa game and CBOT-DT aired the Toronto HD game.

Well I don't like that. They could at least show the Sens game in WS on CBOT-DT. Otherwise, whats the point in having our own DT station???

If Rogers has started showing CBOT-DT (last time I checked it was still Toronto despite what the website said) then we will not have the option of watching the national HD game if the Sens are on locally in SD on both CBOT and CBOT-DT.

You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Otherwise, whats the point in having our own DT station???

I agree there aren't many benefits for Rogers customers, but there are several reasons for having an Ottawa DTV station:

Give viewers the option of the superior picture provided by DTV OTA.
Provide local advertising on the DTV channel.
Prepare for the analog shutdown.
Provide infrastructure for local WS & HD programming when it is available.

.....but there are several reasons for having an Ottawa DTV station...

If all we get is Toronto programming on our new DT station then just copy the signal from Toronto....save some money. When the CBC starts producing local HD content, or a date is set to shut down the analog station, then consider a local unique DT station.

WRT to HNIT games, usually the local team gets some priority on local stations....teams from other cities can be seen on other stations.

We don't only get Toronto programming on our new DT station. The only time they are allowed to substitue local programming for something else is when the replacement program is in HD. The question comes down to which will be best for most viewers. I hate to say it but there are a lot of Leafs fans in Ottawa and they will benifit more from getting the Leafs game in HD than the Sens fans will gain from having the Sens game in SD. If the Leafs game wasn't in HD, they would have to duplicate the programming on CBOT-TV.

It is also consceivalbe that the Toronto station would show a Leafs game in SD or WS and CBOT-DT show a different game in HD. Then you would be glad we have a local DTV station.

The Toronto & Detroit game this Saturday shows as High Definition, but I'm worried CBC is going to blow it since it's not a home game. Are they going to be using their own feed I'm assuming? This should be one of the best games of the year. Can't wait for Detroit to move to the East. One of the best rilvaries.
