It's right.
Colorado @ Vancouver and Toronto @ Montreal are HD.
Tampa Bay @ Ottawa is WS.

^^ wow thats great news then if its true and i apoligize for my complaint. This would also be a sign that CBC is progressing in the use of HD broadcasting, covering three games at once in Widescreen, and two of those being in true HD.

I had always referred to this schedule, which states only the Vancouver-Colorado game is in HD.

I assume you need OTA in Ottawa to get the game in WS.

Probably. I don't have that info at home.

Watching the Canadiens/Maple Leafs game ... at least 1 or 2 of the cameras looks like widescreen SDTV to me. I am not impressed ... not even with PQ from the HD cameras.

I wish we could get the games from HDNet!

Go Canadiens!

That's what I figured. This is the first time I have OTA for the Sens game because I wanted to see it at least in WS if not HD.

CBC Ottawa's digital OTA is showing the Toronto/Montreal game instead :( I'm stuck watching the Sens in Ottawa in non-widescreen yet again.

Now I'm really confused as to why they have the Ottawa/Tampa game marked as WS on the schedule online if it's impossible to get it even via OTA on what I assume is the regional CBC broadcast (since I understand that Roger's CBC HD channel is the Toronto feed).

Am I missing something?

Woe is me today, haven't been able to get channel 802 CBCHE all day on BEV. "Your satellite signal is temporarily unavailable" since this morning.

I shouldn't complain, it is windy and there is a cloud in the sky...

Less woe, Habs finally scored:)

I really think it is time that someone other than CBC does HNIC. CBC doesn't seem to have a clue about doing a quality HD broadcast. Pathetic!

The PQ is much better than the last game in Montreal, don't you think?

Marc:

How is CBC able to do 2 HD games in one night? Does this mean that the second HD truck is now operational? Does this mean that there will be 2 HD games every Saturday or we stuck with the Leafs only?

By the way, we really do appreciate your input and insight.

I did not see the last game from Montreal so cannot comment.

One positive re: the Canadiens game ... the DD5.1 sound ... good use of all 5 channels.

The Canucks game however is DD2.0.

wow, thats what I was wondering. I turned on CBC_HD and I thought, WTH? is the nucks game in HD? Looks good, even better OTA on my computer.

Even the 'nucks game is in HD then that is the worst HD I have ever seen. It certainly seemed to have much worse picture quality than either the Leafs-Habs game or the Raps game that were on around the same time.

I don't get what the problem is with the HD picture quality. The leafs-habs game was in regular CBC-HD. No better or worse than usual. I thought it was fine. And ya sure the Vancouver game isn't the best HD PQ in the world, but it's still HD, and a million times better than any widescreen broadcast (which we would usually get)

The 2nd HD truck MUST be operational. I can't see them renting a HD truck just for this game. It looks like some cameras aren't HD, but overall, I'm impressed. I've had my HDTV since Dec '05, and this is my first Canucks home game in HD. Thank you CBC!

If CTV owned the broadcast rights for NCIC, they'd put it all on TSN and I'd never be able to see hockey via OTA. Kudos CBC!

Great to see the Canucks in HD. Thanks CBC! Hope we'll get more of these. The PQ looked good to me.

At first I thought the Canucks game was just WS, but it seems as though the lighting just isn't good enough to bring out the details on the main HD camera. Some of the hand-cams, e.g. at the Canucks bench, gave a much better image.

I was wondering the same myself, the first game was definitely a better picture but both were in HD.

Closeup shots of Sundin sitting at the bench showed some yellow on his face (forehead and cheeks). Another Leaf player as well. Some closeup shots of Canadiens' players sitting at the bench also. Could be overhead lighting reflection from the ice.

Some playback scenes were sub par for HD.

As a general comment, must sport HD telecasts, both in the US and Canada, open up the coverage with a mosaic of notable scoring scenes in the past, and, that is done in SD with sidebars or side picture fillings. What a waste! No matter how exceptional the scoring efforts were, the PQ quality is so bad that I always wonder what the networks are trying to accomplish. In my book, when you open up an HD coverage of a popular sport the network should try to make a first good impression rather than spoiling these moments with poor PQ Videos. And for CBCHD, that includes the HNIC jingle scenes. These scenes and that jingle should be updated for our present era. I hope Marc will pass the word on both counts.
