The flash of colour bars were coming from that circuit.
Just curious as to what is that circuit and who is responsible for it ?

It's a US company. I'm not naming names.

Hey Marc, when HNIC shows a Sens game on Saturday nights in SD in Ottawa the PQ is just awful...its very fuzzy. Other SD games from SBP seem to have better PQ. Also, other shows on CBOT SD have better PQ. Could you pass this along to someone who might be able to fix it.

Thx

HD will back this week. Last weekends problem was directly related to that venue.
The note regarding quality was passed on.

Premiere does HD. Mobile 80 and 86 do WS. I don't now of any upcoming conversions.

Does that mean you have Dome production truck out west for the CFL final?

I don't comment on the location of remote trucks. There's some history in the older threads.

Wow - it's interesting that all that detail is available on the web for the mobile units. I guess since we all own out little piece of them?
I think the specs are there because you can rent them. Don't ask me how much. I don't think they're in the "wedding video" range. ;)

Looks like the CBC hdtv guide is wrong again.
http://www.cbc.ca/hdtv/schedule/CBC_HD_nextweek2.pdf

I don't think the Senators play Carolina Sat. Nov. 11 and I doubt it is in hd, but I always get my hopes up when I see something like that - only to have them dashed.

Hey everyone,

Is this game being shown in HD or upconverted widescreen? For some reason it does not look as good as usual, colors are bland and it is not as sharp as usual.

Comments?

Typical soft CBC HD. NHL CI HD on EVU has the Ottawa v Boston game from NESN HD. No comparison, NESN totally puts CBC HD to shame.

Doesn't look like it's HD. Probably needed the equipment for the CFL tomorrow. If this is HD it is pretty poor quality.........

ya it's it's not the sharpest HD in a world, and the colours just feel a bit dull

but it's still HD. A million times better than any Widescreen Broadcast cbc has ever shown.

if this looks like a widescreen broadcast to you then somethings wrong with your setup. Telling between HD and Widescreen in like telling between light and day, no matter how good the widescreen is or had bad the HD is.

There's nothing wrong with my set, it just does not look anything like some of the HD programming I watch. I can switch between channels right now and the others blow this away. I also seem to remember the first time the Habs played the Leafs it was MUCH better than this.

Kind of disappointing when you know what HD can really look like. Hockey was the whole reason that I purchased HD programming - it sure would be nice to get that "wow" factor when my team is playing. If you're a Leafs fan you at least get to see a lot of games in HD, if you're a Habs fan you'll have to wait until next year with RDS HD. It will be interesting to see the quality differences between CBC HD and RDS HD.

This game looked no different than the last 2 weeks. Good, perhaps very good but not excellent.

Hockey is not a HD friendly sport.

i cannot believe you can say that. Their MUST be something wrong with your setup. Are you sure your TV is even showing HD? That would explain why upconverted widescreen has always looked so good to you.

The Hab-leaf PQ tonight blew away the last two weeks (because it was HD) although I admit it's not the best HD i've seen (dull and a bit soft)

But james99, i would look it into your TV setup, and make sure you are actually getting a true HD picture from your TV, because it really sounds like you aren't.

026163, I have to disagree when you say that HD is "a million times better than any Widescreen Broadcast cbc has ever shown."

Of course, I realize "a million times" is simple hyperbole on your part.

The Saturday night CBC double header on HNIC has shown some excellent widescreen PQ for the second game several times this year. Last evening's Calgary/Vancouver game was a good example.
In the past, a few DHCers were having trouble telling the soft HD from the sharp WS.

However, hockey is not the only example of good WS PQ on CBC this year.
That comedy movie (what was it called? Johnny English?), where Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) plays the only surviving British secret agent, had top notch WS PQ.
