Don Wittman just said it was in HD. If this is true it's the worst HD hockey I've seen. I was about to post that there is no way this is HD, until I heard him say it just before the commercials.

On the listing for Zap2it.com it shows that neither the leafs or vancouver game is in HD, but it does show that next weeks Leafs/Canadiens game is in HD.

Whoever said the CBC HD schedule lists the TO/Buffalo game as HD was WRONG. It says its "widescreen', which it obviously is. And not only that, its 2.0 sound as well.

Its looks WORSE than regular SD. What gives?

There's no way this Leafs game is in HD, just no way. If it is HD, they must have the bitrate dropped real low. Lots of macroblocking, quite possibily the worst HD I've ever seen, if indeed it is HD. Now I know what it must be like to have HD Cable from Shaw ;)

The PQ is on par with last weeks Habs game, which was in SD WS.

It looks very good on my 106" HDTV.

If SD looks good on your 106" screen you must be myopic or sit 1000 feet away from it.

It looks and sounds like shyte on my 102" screen. Ditto with my 32" LCD.

is anyone noticing occational SMTPE bars for say, a few frames every oh, 2mins during tonight's Leafs game? It's kind of annoying. The sound mutes for those frames too.

Yep......This is the worst HD/SD/CrapD telecast I have seen in YEARS.

TO/Buffalo is in HD. Main camera is in SD, just like LeafsTV did in Tampa last week. CBC is using a rental mobile for the game, since CBC Premier HD is in Calgary for tomorow CFL West Semi-final.

I don't see why there is all this confusion as to whether this is good SD, bad HD...etc

it's not HD. period. CBC hasn't shown one clip or video that has been HD all night. They don't care about their schedule and had them all wrong this evening for all 3 games.

And i find it really annoying when people say 'the game looks really good' It's SD. It's SD.

It doesn't matter what, SD is garbage compared to HD.

HD can look good, really good, and bad.

SD is some beginning technology they came up with back in the 60's which for some reason stuck around a lot longer than it should have.

As someone with the NHLCI package, i can definitely say that if the leafs are in HD tonight, it is the worst HD ever. hands down. i was switching back and forth between this game and the NESNHD broadcast of the tampa/boston game, and there was an EASILY noticable difference in quality, with the NESN broadcast looking fantastic.

quite interested to see how the canucks look, i'm assuming cbc will just piggyback the feed from the FSN feed?

i dunno how that works really.

i've only seen a couple hd hockey games that look all that impressive on cbc, always in toronto. the hdnet/fsn games always look excellent tho.

I stopped watching the Laughs game and now I'm watching college football in TRUE HD. Is is absolutely pristine.....as HD should be.

look i don't want to offend you in anyway, and I'm really happy that you can watch SDTV and find it great and everywhere, wish it was like that for me.

but it seems you just aren't 100% when it comes to judging picture quality, and it also seems you like to show off your expensive state-of-the-art TV.

i think the truth is that if i watched SD on your TV, i'd find it would look awful to me, because it is SD.

it was said perfectly earlier, you honestly must sit 100 feet away from your TV, or have never seen real HD, or just don't have good enough vision to appreciate HD.

None the less, can we agree that you aren't really with the rest of us when it comes to juding PQ. Just be glad you can enjoy SD, don't state everyone else is wrong and that your TV is the best.

canucks game not in hd, but not surprised

Because the Leafs-Sabres game had such poor PQ I started to wonder whether CBC had changed plans and left their HD (Eastern) truck in Toronto for the Eastern semi-final on Sunday. Earlier this week I read that they would do the Leafs game in HD but NOT move the truck to Toronto for the football game the next day because there wasn't enough time to set everything up.

The PQ of the HD Leafs game was fantastic last night compared to the SD Sens game which again looks like a 15 year old VHS tape.....you Leafs fans should quit complaining......you've got it made.....wrt HD PQ that is.....;)

I hate to be negative, but, as a Canadian and proud to watch Canadian show and love the CBC for a number of programs, I cannot not beleive the peoples network has such crappy HD. What gives, they should be the leader in HD in Canada. I have StarChoice and would rather the bandwith be used for other channels. HNIC and between peroids last night, I was shocked to see that it is not in HD. A joke and very sad to see.

i was was the pregame from Calgary just now and it WAS in HD, unlike the leaf game last night. again like i've said, it's night and day. I was still under the impression that CBC still only has one HD truck, and therefore if they are covering the Calgary CFL game in HD, both the Argo's game today, and the leaf game from last night would only have SD equipment available.
