CBC looks awful this afternoon, I guess this is the level we're gonna get for the rest of the playoffs

You guys beat me to it. I was so looking forward to watch it, but was held up at Costco; I quickly called called home at 2:00 to have my son PVR it. Now that I am home I am again disappointed with the quality of CBCs HD broadcast. The powers that be must be embarrassed?

one observation I made. When CBC showed clips from the game during Coach's Corner, the image looked good, i didn't see any of the artifacts and macroblocking like during the actual live game.

So CBC is able to record and broadcast recorded clips properly, but for some reason whenever the live video is show, its all messed up and compressed. hopefully someone at CBC can figure out why.

Yup. The replays look good as well as the live CC. The main camera is the problem. Strange.

CBCHD was much better in the 2nd period. I was able to watch it. I'd be curious to find out what happened.

No problems on Videotron during the game. I assume that the feed picked up by each provider from CBC OTA is the issue. I've actually lost the HD feed twice during the playoffs which no one with Rogers or Bell mentioned on the forums.

First period was bad via CBC HD from Toronto on Cogeco.

No problem on CBCHD OTA from Montréal. But NBC PQ was better.

I noticed no problems on CBCHD with BEV.

So, then was it a Rogers issues? Is Rogers experimenting with re-compressing? I thought they just "passed it along" to the customer.

I couldn't have said this better myself......

No. 1: The buffalo, once plentiful throughout North America's plains, is now an endangered species. Many believe it is in peril of becoming extinct, possibly as soon as this afternoon.

No. 2: The buffalo has few natural enemies, but becomes especially confused at the appearance of Spartan warriors carrying sticks. When so challenged, it will run in circles and eventually collapse. (Buffaloes generally travel in herds of about 25. This collective group is known as "prey.")

No. 3: A fierce animal throughout most of the year, the buffalo turns docile in mid-May, at which time it will meekly walk to its own slaughter.

No. 4: When cooking buffalo, it is best to use fresh meat, as it does not last long on ice.

No. 5: When corralled in 200x85-foot pens, or "rinks," buffaloes will spend most of their time huddled in their own end.

No. 6: If cornered, the buffalo has great difficulty dropping its gloves.

No. 7: Buffaloes will not grow their beards for more than about a month, and most love to golf.

No. 8: While grain-fed buffaloes are perhaps the healthiest to eat, those that have been fed crow will provide the most satisfaction.

No. 9: Unlike their cousin the bull, buffaloes cower at the sight of red.

No. 10: Buffalo meat should not be cooked beyond rare, or medium-rare, at most. Buffaloes cannot stand the heat.

No. 11: Even when severely dehydrated, buffaloes will not drink from anything silver.

No. 12: Nothing washes down an appetizer of buffalo quite as well as a main course of duck or wings.

...from the Ottawa Citizen.....

I see NBC has Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final on Sat. June 2nd, 2007 and Game 4 on Mon. June 4th, 2007:

http://www.nbcsports.com/nhl/1303794/detail.html

That would suggest a Game 1 on Tue. May 29th, 2007. Anyone heard any confirmation on this? That's a 10 day layoff for the Sens.

Cheers.

That could happen if the western series goes 7 games. Also, the NBC dates were set along time ago so they could change.

True. They were promoting that date like crazy during the Ducks-Wings game on Sunday though.

Game 1 may be on Sat or Sun.

From http://torontosun.com/Sports/Hockey/2007/05/21/4196668-sun.html:

The earliest the Stanley Cup final could begin is almost certainly Saturday and that's only if the Red Wings win the West.

The Wings and Ducks both have home-ice advantage on the Ottawa Senators based on points, but if the West series ends tomorrow, there's a building conflict with the Champions On Ice skating show at the Honda Center in Anaheim on Saturday. So it's either try to move Game 1 to Friday, which none of the TV networks want, or wait until Sunday.

More "word on the street" regarding the start of the Cup Finals:

http://torontosun.com/Sports/Hockey/2007/05/22/4198482-sun.html

The word yesterday was that if Anaheim hosts the first game, it will be Monday. If it's in Detroit, it would be Tuesday.

That is one long layoff.

Cheers.

Regardless of tonights outcome and or series outcome, Game 1 will be Monday May 28 in the West City. There will be no Tuesday start if Detroit wins the series.
