: CBC HD Hockey - Split from Official CBC Thread
Juggie 2007-05-04, 01:47 AM Hey Marc,
Thanks for all the updates, glad the HD truck made it in time to do the game in HD.
Given tonights win by Anaheim i would guess who ever is working premiere may be hoping for a anaheim/san jose western conference final! That would sure make for some short trips, and plus everyone gets to enjoy the sun! I'm actually hoping for that too, i need a few more games out of SJ for my pool. Though i expect Anaheim in the cup finals. Detroit however is much much farther then even Vancouver, about 50% further, so sharing a truck would as far as i know not be possible. Hopefully CBC has a backup plan for this already.
jumpy27 2007-05-04, 03:22 AM Wouldn't they be able to use the Eastern HD truck for the Detroit games?

It depends on how compatible the eastern and western conference final scheduals are, but probably not. It typically isn't possible to use the same truck two days in a row in different cities (unless they are extreemly close together, or the first game is an afternoon game).
leaffan1967 2007-05-04, 02:40 PM Since it involves two American teams then it will be on TSN won't it? Then CBC could keep using Encore for Ottawa vs BUF/NYR or Bring Premiere back east to help....TSN has said they can do up to 3 rounds, so i am guessing CBC will only have an OTT series next round
magnet 2007-05-04, 03:44 PM Says here: http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=298698 that TSN has coverage of the first THREE rounds.
Dean W 2007-05-04, 10:19 PM CBC is able to take one complete Conference Final and also is able to take a couple games from the other Conference Final. TSN gets what is left.
shabbs 2007-05-05, 08:24 PM CBC's having audio issues with their truck tonight in the Sens-Devils game. They're picking up the VS audio feed in the meantime. Fine by me! No Bob Cole. WOOHOO! ;)
Bruno Landry 2007-05-05, 08:25 PM What the ... is going on tonight ?
Versus commentators on CBC ?
PQ is really bad.
Ron said they were having alot of problems from the feed.
shabbs 2007-05-05, 08:29 PM This flip-flopping between CBC and VS audio is brutal. Pick one feed until the other one is fixed.
DSgamby 2007-05-05, 08:39 PM I think they are flip-flopping because they think they fixed the CBC feed but in reality not true when they get the same problem.
Stoakley Audio 2007-05-05, 10:41 PM Hey all,
I'll try to find out from the A1 at the game what really happened. Should know in the next day or two.
Cheers
Juggie 2007-05-05, 10:51 PM I will try and ask my buddy when he gets back from jersey.
roger1818 2007-05-05, 11:43 PM I am not a Cole fan, but I must say he is better than the Versus announcers. The only good thing I can say about them is that they knew the names of the players, but other than that, they were uninspiring and didn't add much to the flavour of the game.
otown47 2007-05-06, 08:12 AM Its well into BBQ season and I’ve had my fill of old blue meat and tenderized penguin. So its time to move on and as the weather gets warmer, side dishes become more appealing. One of my favourites is devilled eggs which you make by excessive boiling, cracking their shells into little pieces with hard objects, peeling away the outside to reveal the soft interior, adding spices to improve the taste, and finally whipping them into submission.
However, I've gone overboard on these the last week or so and now suffer from flatulence so no more devilled eggs. Its time to get back to meat although I haven't yet decided on what to BBQ next.
otown47 2007-05-06, 08:15 AM When the CBC audio problems finally stabilized, it was 2 channel. I thought the PQ was fine and liked the Verss announcers.
notsure 2007-05-06, 10:03 AM Otown, let me start off by saying you are a great chef!
Secondly, I've always believed that Bob Cole was biased but the Vs. announcers last night put him to shame in that department.
For a while there last night good old Bob thought it still 2-1 even though it was 3-1! I wonder if someone keeps track of all his mistakes and reports back to him.
otown47 2007-05-06, 10:35 AM notsure, yes the VS guys are biased but I thought they knew their stuff better than the CBC announcers last night.
otown47 2007-05-06, 05:17 PM At the end of the Sabres Rangers game NBC said game 4 of the Sens Sabres series would be Saturday May 19th @ 2:00. The NBC site confirms this. If thats the case then the series wont start till next weekend...maybe Saturday night. Thats a long time off......
roger1818 2007-05-06, 07:09 PM At the end of the Sabres Rangers game NBC said game 4 of the Sens Sabres series would be Saturday May 19th @ 2:00. The NBC site confirms this.
You are right (the link is NBC Playoff Schedule (http://www.nbcsports.com/nhl/1303794/detail.html)). The thing that gets me is how they can know dates and times of games 3-7 of the Stanley Cup Finals without even knowing where the games will be played and if there will be a scheduling conflict.
shabbs 2007-05-06, 07:28 PM It's probably a best guess at how the games will end up. That's why it says "Here is our playoff schedule (subject to change)" at the top. ;)
A Sens-Sabres Game 4 on May 19th would suggest the series would start on Sat. May 12th or Sun. May 13th. I guess if the San Jose-Detroit series ends tomorrow, they may move it all up.
Cheers.
